Change in forum feedback mechanism

This is a shame, not allowing us to express our feelings

You developers should think outside the box!

Clearly you didn't read their reasoning. Had you not seen the number of dislikes on the update topics? Yes it tells you that people disliked them but it doesn't tell you why. Do you not have any sympathy? Like if you're told you can't have an ice cream cone without being told why.

My only concern with this move is whether the quality feedback you seek, that otherwise would have been done with a negative click, is of any substance. You may be forcing people to voice negative opinions, but that doesn't mean its going to bring any overwhelming vindication to the majorities disliking of updates.  Of course that is in specific relation to the development section, but I do have more confidence in this bettering the discussion within players topics.

The best solution would have been to keep the up/down votes as before and simply hide the results. That way it allows us to post feedback without the notion of the "mob mentality" since nobody would actually see the number of up/down votes.

Having a "Like this" only implies that negative feedback is discouraged for the simple reason that this is not a threaded system.

Honestly they should just post news and lock the topic since they don't listen to what we want anyways. At least doing that is less dishonest than the current system that implies our feedback matters (when those of us who are adults know that it matters not at all).

The problem is that in a discussion with hundreds of posts a simple number of +/- tells me more than having to read through every single one of the hundreds of posts related to the OP.

Seriously? Do you actually think anyone would read through 20-30 pages of responses to an announcement?

So, for this reason, I'm more or less in support of this update, as I do believe it will foster more discussion. Now, when you disagree with someone, you're forced to explain yourself, and contrary arguments are exactly what sparks discussion. At the moment, too many tankers are responding to posts/threads with a simple downvote, which shows how much support this post/thread has, but doesn't do much more.

And what's to stop me from just posting a big thumbs down? This update doesn't force discussion; it silences feedback.

Now all we have to go by is "Likes" - there is no system for counting the number of people who respond to a post who disagree.

Are you going to read through hundreds of responses to see if the overall opinion is negative compared to the number of those who "Like" the original post?

No discussion is required. What you're going to end up with is a bunch of empty posts of things like this now:

It's a joke??? On every bad updates, there are 50 pages. And if you read the topic, you can actually see messages that tell why people don't like the update. Like for example, the score cap. A lot of downvotes, but also a lot of constructive messages explaining why this update is bad.

So please, don't find excuses to tell us that this update is great.

The last post of the score cap topic, by Semyon, in early september :

We believe the system works all right in DM, TDM and CTF. However, we agree that CP performance is not perfect.

That's why we'll be looking into the best way of reworking the system for CP mode.

One month later, the score cap for a 15 minutes CP map is the same for Polygon or Rio. 100. Is this a joke? There is only one point in Polygon, meaning you can't reach 100 in 15 minutes. Rio? 5 points, meaning the battle can end in 5 minutes. This is not very hard to rework this and make a score cap of 70 per point. Meaning Polygon 15 min CP would be 70 and Rio 350.

But no, instead, here is an update about reputation...

The dislike button does improve the forum for a major reason. It allows a tanker to express disapproval with a post without starting a debate that can ramble on for pages and pages.

So you're saying that, with a dislike button, announcements didn't get flamed into oblivion?!

Any time an update rolls out, or Semyon raises a finger, or Tankionline attempts to please you in any way, there is a crowd that jumps on them and goes on for pages and pages (and did I mention pages?) doing nothing but scream about how Tanki wants to hurt them as much as possible! It doesn't matter if the button is there or not! These people are impossible to satisfy!

Now, the ones who aren't posting constructive negative responses will actually have to give a reason to hate the topic so they won't look like trolls.

Everyone with a staff avatar would love this update 100% and rush to defend it.

Yes, as on any social media.

For example, if a post gets 20 likes, it will say sth like:

"John, James, Tom and 17 others like this."

Semyon and the devs, the forum is really the only good part of the game...

LEAVE IT ALONE

I also pmed you

So, once you become a moderator or something related to Tanki Staff, you can't say bad things about Tanki? You all have the same speech about how we, the players, are always complaining (things that is not true) and how devs are awesome and doing their best.

Seems you can't tell what you really think. Mais... c'est normal en Russie !

Critics of this update keep claiming that it's "silencing feedback." On the contrary, it's forcing people who disagree with a post to voice their feedback, instead of clicking a little red button. That sounds like quite the opposite of silencing to me!

Besides, this update will make players give more thought to their responses to controversial posts, such as unpopular opinions or changes to the game. The days where players pile downvotes onto every new update before even testing it out or giving it thought just might be gone... And that's nothing short of terrific news for the community.

Pfft, Devs don't care from our posts ... Devs changed and fixed updates only when it had a lot of down votes. The point in this update is, to stop the fervor in the forum after a bad update .

for example, from now on, every update will have couple of likes, but it can be only 10% from the tanki's commuinty.  90% are ignored .

Dictatorship ...

Tanki is going down hill and faster than ever .

Tankers,

We have just reworked the feedback mechanism in the forums.

You can still LIKE posts. However, from now on, if there’s something you disagree with, you will have to express your criticism in the form an actual post.

Why did we do this?

Because the forum is where you come to express your opinions, as well as give your feedback and critique — it’s a place for open discussion.

But when that feedback is just a DISLIKE button, there’s no dialog. There’s no way of understanding what the criticism is about, and no way of acting on it to make the situation better.

A simple DISLIKE button does not improve the discussion, and it does not make the community or the game a better place.

We hope this change will help improve dialog in the forum, for all the above reasons and more.

Please feel free to share your opinions about this change by leaving a comment below. As always, the more detailed your feedback, the more helpful it will be.

Actually, you knew exactly why we down-voted your Tanker's Day Sale. :P

Like this, guys! :)
