Does your post count matter ?

Before I begin, I smell noobs like @drazeruzumaki and @dilsharox, who have this kind of look on their faces :

So, coming to the question now. Does your post count matter ? (Except to you) Please read my opinion under the spoiler.

:excl: WARNING : Extremely long essay :excl:

NO, it does not matter

Now, why should it matter ? A forum is a place where you share your views with other people, offer criticism, clarify your doubts etc. It is not a place where you go to increase your post count.

A newbie might call you experienced by noticing your post count, but we, the REAL experienced players ? Nah.

So, to summarize, do not waste your time increasing your post count by flooding Forum Games. Ooooh, oooh, and you want to know another excellent reason why ? Because :

Feel free to share your opinions on whether your post count matters or not :)

Actually, post count matters...

But it's a very broad concept which, I belive, that hardly a few care/know...

The quality of your posts matter....

We all know that some people just flood topics by just simply saying 'OK' to any topic they find on air..

Some just go to forum games and flood ethically, but I believed that this is the best place for such people...those who go to forum games to increase their post count, at least do not spam the forum with useless posts...and its better, coz they keep their own business..

And yes, there are yet people who have a high post count, but major part of their posts are dedicated to genuine posts...they at least speak something worthy, may it be a criticism or a praise..

Also, some play forum games as well as make worthy posts...← I personally feel that this is the best...it keeps them from getting bored from forum..

At the end of the day, all of us (the old players) know that which player belongs to which category...

As for newbies,

For the temporary - it hardly matters..

For those who become permanent - they gradually learn everything about how someone has that many posts...

Note : I did not mention anyone's name in this post, so please do not get offended by the post...

and those who still get offended, they, in a way, are accepting that they are the ones who spam the forum

Post count doesn't necessarily matter. The forum is a place where you can share your opinions and views, but spamming around topics doesn't mean you are being "helpful". As Buried said, it's the quality of the post that matters. One helpful post is definitely better than 100 useless spam comments.

An "OK" in a long, well written article proves that he/she didn't actually read what the article was about.

I agree with OP. Some people just seriously post in every topic with a not so related post. Usually these short words or sentences, when in actual they're not interested at all in the topic.

When people post a random 2 letters in every page on the forum....

Probably half my posts are in the game "Count Before the Tanki Online Staff" but to be seriously honest, I couldn't care less the amount of posts I (or anybody else for that matter) have made. To make a topic just to show how stupid it is to raise your post count is seems just as stupid as what you're trying to fight against. I do agree though that making useless posts (like the one I'm doing right now) is a waste of time, but many people have lots of time to waste. Thanks Mr. S for enlightening us on this subject with such a well written essay, you've done a great job once again  :P.

Btw, I got 200 posts in 2 months, is that considered too many?

For an experienced/intelligent forum user - no, post count does not matter and they judge other users by quality of their language and the correctness of their logic. However, unfortunately not all players using this forum are smart enough to analyse fellow players like that in a conversation, so instead they just look at the post count and their first impression comes from that. Even I sometimes don't have time to check out someone's profile and carefully read their posts, so despite the fact that I try my best to ignore the post count, subconsciously it still somewhat affects my respect towards that player.

So whether your post count matters or not greatly depends on who you're talking to.
