Good idea.

Make a story called:

     "Peter the Pink Pug Puppy's Puzzling parables."

Then post it of topic and see how many views you get  :P. If people like them, then write more.

Lmfao yeah I don't think so I'm not good at writing story's but u could write it then I could post it and claim credit for it :D :p

Hi all. This thread, as my friend and fellow homeschooler Ford pointed out, is dying. The creator of this topic has seemingly left the game, leaving  to continue this fine discussion. There is absolutely no reason for this to happen, though. If you are a homeschooler, I'd suggest you look at the Homeschooler Club I created in the Specialist club section. Homeschooling is #1!

Updated homeschooler list:

@KillerGnat

@fordmustang12345

@Night-Sisters

@Dragon-Judgement

@duck100101

@epickiller546

@dilsharox

If I'm missing anyone, tell me.

I'm not exactly homeschooled, but I do interact with many homeschoolers. And, depending on your definition, one could consider me a homeschooler.

I go to a private school that has in-school classes once a week, and I am also part of an early-college high school program that allows me to take courses in a nearby community college. By the time I graduate from High School I’ll have an associate’s degree along with a high school diploma, which will be soon. Because I don’t go to a regular high school, it gives me the opportunity to manage my time more efficiently. A good number of people at my school were homeschooled which is why I have some relations with homeschoolers.

Interestingly, I was originally from a country where homeschooling was not legal and everyone was obligated to go to a public school. This provokes an interesting thought. Should homeschooling be legal? I know that many people consider homeschoolers to be "insanely smart" but others consider them to be "spoiled brats". I have known both of these options to be the case, sometimes simultaneously. It also appears as if there is a surprisingly high ratio of tankers who were/are homeschooled, perhaps disproportionate to the actual percentage of homeschooled/publicly schooled students. I can conclude that homeschoolers tend to play this game more than non-homeschoolers, and probably have more spare time in general. Is this good or bad?

(I mean no disrespect toward homeschoolers. Some of my closest friends are homeschooled and I myself could technically be considered one as well.)

I'm sorry, but after viewing your application you have been declined. Being banned, even for only five minutes, is a sign that you are a rule breaker, your English is appalling, and you enjoy reading *gasp* (dare I say the forbidden word) books.

Seriously, what did you think the answer would be. Of course you're accepted .

Btw, what books do you like?

I like many, many books. ^_^

Lord of The Rings, The Book Thief, the Odyssey, (Homer's brilliant. Just sayin'.)

Artemis Fowl, the original Percy Jackson series, To Kill A Mockingbird. The Thief.

I could go on.  :lol: Wbu? (Dare I ask?  :lol:)

I read the Odyssey and I just couldn't manage to enjoy it... to me it seemed like a huge fairy tale with a not-so-captivating plot. Could you elaborate on what you enjoyed about it? It just is confusing to me that it's such a highly regarded book and I'd like to figure out why people love it.

Oh and I'm not homeschooled... sorry for the intrusion  :ph34r:

^ Your English for reading and writing are superb, especially for a "home-schooler'. One of a kind eh

Without a doubt. ;)

C'mon, it's a guy fighting against all odds to get home to his wife and son. He has only his wits to survive the ravages of war, angry gods, Circe, Calypso, and a large helping of stupid idiots. And when he does finally get back, it's only to encounter more trouble on the home-front.

To me, it's a great plot. Just takes a long time for the story to unfold, and the depending on the translation you get, the language can be difficult to decipher.

I have to get started with school, so I'll make my list short.

1. Anything by Tolkien (LOTR, The Hobbit, The Silmarillion)

2. The Chronicles of Narnia by Lewis

3. Anything by Dickens, but I've currently only read two by him.

4. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes

5. P.G. Wodehouse's books. Especially the Jeeves and Wooster series.

6. I like Chesterton, but haven't read much by him.

7. Agatha Christie mysteries.

8. Shakespeare, but his English is so annoying that I hardly read his works.

9. Dr. Seuss  :P

10. I've liked both of the Artemis Fowl books I've read, but they're really hard to find in libraries.

I agree that Homer was brilliant, but I don't possess the same enthusiasm you have for The Odyssey. We only have a kid version of it, and reading it is like reading a gruesome version of the Ramona Quimby series.

I believe you already knew all that from the "Let's Discuss Books" topic, though.

Who said that home-schoolers don't have the same reading and writing skills as those who aren't home-schooled? They learn the same subjects, rules of Grammar, and so on. They're no different. Except for the fact they're at home.

As for my list of books... it's rather short.

1. Alex Rider series by Anthony Horowitz.

2. Escape from Furnace series by Alex Gordon Smith.

3. The Ranger's Apprentice series by John Flanagan

And there are others... they just haven't come to mind yet, haha.

I never mentioned anything about anyone saying anything. It was an assumption because I didn't know the curriculum was the same, maybe in your country, might not be in others. My apologies.

The curriculum is as varied as the parents that teach. The basic rules of grammar, math, science, etc. are the same.  :lol:

Alex Rider... :blink: Couldn't make it through the first book. But the Ranger's Apprentice series is pretty darn good. Have you ever read Brotherband? (By J. Flanagan) Itsa crazy interesting story.

Ah, I see. It's no problem. But sometimes people put home-schoolers in like... this completely DIFFERENT world you know? You're good. :)

Haha, I LOVED the Alex Rider series, you might want to try reading it again! Ranger's Apprentice was pretty good, and no I never did read Brotherband; never even heard of it honestly! I should try finding it.

Wow, one week into this topic's life and it already has the most interesting discussion on the Tanki Forum (in my opinion). You've gotta love homeschoolers  :).

My brother read the Ranger's Apprentice, but he didn't recommend it to me. Normally I trust his judgement, but what are your views. As for the other books, I've never even heard of most of them. I guess that's what you get for living in the middle of nowhere.
