It's 4.5 billion years old! Everyone knows that!

yep, and the universe is 9 billion years old.

It can't be millions of years old tho O.0

it's not, it's BILLIONS of years old.

-.- this, has to be a joke.

I think one can only be sure of things of they experience it first hand, or ran tests (not the bs test that has been proven not to work) or from Bible.

Right, so according to you, tests which have been PROVEN to be accurate by some of the most intelligent people in the world are inaccurate, but a book which is thousands of years old, and whose components must've been changed a lot of times throughout it's history, is accurate? The only "proof" that the Bible is accurate is that it is written in there. Of course, you are obviously free to believe in whatever you wish to believe.

To any mod who would consider giving me a warning point/banning me for religious discussion, please consider this:

I'm just arguing about the validity of a book. The fact that the book is sacred to Christians is of little consequence. For ex: If a person says that he/she likes beef and bacon, it would be ridiculous to ban them just because cows are sacred to Hindus and eating pork is forbidden for Muslims.

Anyway, on a lighter note, I've read the Inheritance series, a lot of books by Agatha Christie, The Thief Lord, some books by Jules Verne, the Bartimaeus trilogy, the Hunger Games trilogy, the Divergent trilogy, An abundance of Katherines, The fault in our stars, Paper Towns, Looking for Alaska, most of the books by Dan Brown, the Artemis Fowl series and The Supernaturalism. There are probably more, I just don't remember them.

Scientists were handed two pieces of one tree a couple days apart and were asked to use their expensive high tech equipment.

One piece was a few million years older than the other according to the test.

This is acctually hilarious!!!!

Dude!!!trees weren't the first thing on earth damit!!!! You test way below rocks!!!!!!! That was the first thing that was tested!!!!

Ford what do you think.

The earth is only a million years old, or it is 4.5 billon years old? Look it up

Radioactive decay has been proven to be inaccurate, there are many factors that can mess up the results.

True but there are so many ways to test radioactive decay and it's been tested in so many different places. It's certainly more accurate than a book that says the world is 1k old...

no offense but that is just nonsense.

well i just finished the last book in the Chronicles of Ancient Darkness series called Ghost Hunter  And sadly the end was really terrible... The wy it was written Torak (the protagonist)  was in NO position to succeed but he did anyways because it a story and in a ridiculous way! He didn't even have to do mush at all! he just defeated the strongest sorceress in the entire universe... it really sucked

:(

You should read the Mortal Engines series, it's 4 books, and a prequel series of 3 books, and it's the best series I have ever read, and it has a really good ending, and a bad ending at the same time, it's really really well written and they're really good books, they're by Philip Reeves.

Historians have hundreds and thousands of copies of The Bible, many of them from within a hundred years of the book's compilation. There are more ancient copies of The Bible than of any other ancient writing (for example, Homer), even those historians take as fact. These copies show that The Bible has, in fact, NOT changed significantly from the original.

If you hear someone say The Bible has thousands of inaccuracies, that is only partly true. Technically there ARE, but over 95% of these are misspelled words, or minor word differences. The rest of the inaccuracies are only a difference in phrasing, which becomes a footnote.

The Bible does not claim the world is 1k old, not sure where you are getting that number. Based on the genealogies in The Bible, the Earth is 6-10k old. Which isn't too far fetched, unless you believe in evolution.

Personally, I think believing in evolution requires more faith then believing in God, as the probability of evolution occurring is miniscule.

If anyone wants to keep debating, let's move this to PM to avoid bans. :)

Oh. They actually found bible scrolls and u can find images online :) if u can read Hebrew and Greek you'll find it's actually 100% accurate..

Post above correct ;)

The accuracy thing again, the only accuracy it has lost is from translations.

Some languages have words for specific things.

So English could have a word for "shoe" and Greek not. (Example k)

And also many scrolls, and writings on different religion temples and kings from the ancient world. Match up with the bible. It's just a fact that it's a reliable source of history.
