Vulcan not nub, all those who say so I kill, cry cry! Big nub here is #1   B)

That's why:

yeah but it's like taking an impossible quiz. I can't do it

If you believe you can do it, I'm sure you can do it; if you don't believe you can do it, then I guess you can't. You control your own destiny.

Nope, it's purely based around finding the weaknesses in the arguments that'll be provided. Despite the theme, no actual knowledge of Tanki beyond Vulcan being an in-game weapon is needed.

Awesome. That's about as much knowledge I have about that particular gun, but this literary bent to Tanki tickles my senses. I'm as good at maths as I am with a vulcan, so this should be interesting. Thanks for the contest!  :D

No problem. Fortunately for you it'll be more logic based than anything mathematical, so good luck! :P

This competition just screams "I'm currently doing Pre-U Global Perspectives/Critical Thinking and want to show it off"

Might as well do it as revision anyway then :D

So...can I use screen shots? This is my alt. Both battles were 15 minutes long.

No pls, I'm not doing Critical Thinking, although I am doing Pre-U Philosophy which covers overall argument structure (premises and conclusions, types of arguments) but not logic. I've mainly just explored logic and stuff in my spare time... it's probable that some of the questions will be harder than Pre-U Critical Thinking, in any case :P

Especially the later questions, which will likely force you to think outside the box, they're by no means textbook and I've done a lot to hide and confuse the logical fallacies xD

2 questions.

1. Do the parts in parenthesis contribute to any possible logical fallacies?

2. Are the underlined phrases, ex: "The Ultimate Argument for the Noob-ness of A Vulcan User (What do you Mean it's Logically Fallacious No it Isn't Pls):"

the titles, and the arguments to be presented? Or are the fallacies presented in those statements?

- This contest will start at 19:00 UTC on February 23rd, when this topic will be updated with the arguments.

1. Nope.

2. Again, there are a few clues in the topic - the answer is they're the titles, and the arguments are to be presented, as discussed:

Essentially, your task is to find what's wrong with these arguments. Why, you may ask? Well, this is how it'll work...

- This contest will start at 19:00 UTC on February 23rd, when this topic will be updated with the arguments.

Note that the titles of the arguments do not count as part of the arguments themselves.

My arguments are also made up of statements (premises), and conclusions inferred from these premises are clearly indicated by a ∴ (literally meaning 'therefore') symbol.

I can hardly wait. Can I say what is wrong with the argument by naming the fallacy, then explaining the fallacy?

Yes, of course - you don't even have to name the fallacies as long as you explain them well, but doing so could help to secure those marks if you're having a hard time with putting it all into words.

Also, shout-out to @MegaPeg for uh... starting the contest before it's even started? Nicely done, haha:

UPDATED!

N.B. My use of 'logical fallacy' (or logical flawin these questions concerns formal logical error - when used, I am not enquiring about the truth of the statements made, but only about whether the argument logically follows. This means that the only question potentially concerning the truth or falsehood of statements made is Question 2 - all others ask about logical issues, not whether any of the statements are true or false. My arguments are also made up of statements (premises), and conclusions inferred from these premises are clearly indicated by a ∴ (literally meaning 'therefore') symbol.

Also note that you will do better if you focus on submitting more correct answers than if you focus on answering quickest. Your score will be considered first and foremost - only where two or more entrants get equal scores will the order of submission then mean anything. Whilst this could affect whether you get a prize or not, you definitely need to get some answers correct to have any chance in the first place!

Remember: Your answers should be submitted by PMing me. Do NOT post the answers here.

Good luck, everyone!

Lol I didn't know what time it was UTC. I guess it helps to double-check sometimes.

BTW are we answering the questions for the same argument, or are new arguments going to be given each day?

The questions apply to the same arguments.
