Image extensions?

 Share

Recommended Posts

Hi, which specific image extensions are allowed on Tanki's forum? I have tried various different ways to try to embed screenshots into my posts, including pasting (Ctrl + V from print screen on my Windows computer) and embedding via HTML, to applications like LightShot or web media websites like Imgur.

In any case, I always get an image extension error. Does it literally mean file format extensions, or am I using an incompatible method of posting screenshots? I would find a way around it if I hadn't read that screenshots via pasting are accepted, yet mine result in an error.

This has been happening for about 4 months now. I would post an image of the error, but that's the point... xD

You must first upload your image to an image hosting site, like Imgur. When you've uploaded the image you'll notice a bar that says "direct link" to the right of the uploaded image. Copy this url and then find this icon when posting: odsowl.jpg
It looks like a little polaroid picture. Click it, and paste your direct link into that. It'll automatically generate the image for you.

Generally, you'll need to wrap the image URL in the tag, like so:

insert image url here [/img]

Imgur.com and Lightshot are allowed on the forum

Just drag the uploaded photo into your post, if it says a error to Imgur OR Lightshot then the problem isn't Tanki related.

This is a common problem across all the communities.

Say this was your Picture URL : http://prnt.sc/ajcqyl

1) Open the URL in any browser and right click the image. This should appear;

kXJzoxO.png

2)If yes, press "Copy image address" :

qBzsp9Z.png

3) This will copy the actual image address that you have to use in our forum:  http://i.imgur.com/9ycUlme.png

L8iubLR.png

Now try and post this URL in forums by doing this:

o3ikS28.png

After pressing it, this should appear;

adPw39r.png

Here you should put the link of the image (the one you copied) and press "OK"

OutCome:

9ycUlme.png

Hope this Helped  ^_^

Together with that, this is how to do it if you upload a picture to Imgur:

8DDrG0V.png

You can either copy the address and follow the other steps said above, copy the Direct Link on the right side and again follow all the steps, or just copy the BBCode for Forum, and you do not have to do anything else. Just copy that BBCode link and post it directly as a message, and it will create a picture alone after posting it.

Does using the image address work for all image hosting sites (other than imgur)? I did try it for lightshot and it didn't work

 Yep the lightshot link doesn't work for that img code and the Image button. I use Imgur most of the time. You need to find a website which has a url with .png Ending. One of them is ctrlv.in and tnkscr.net. But if you want to use Lightshot then after uploading it in Lightshot Dont copy the link in the address bar. Right click the image and select 'copy image address' and paste that link in within the [/img] codes. Or just simply click this odsowl.jpg and paste the link.

It should do, but honestly, there's no reason to use anything other than Imgur unless the site is down. It's fast, reliable and easy to use.

For lightshot use the instructions from my colleague xMoneyMaker, right click on the picture and "Copy image address".
