Craft-A-Tank Winners Announced!

Harsh but true :/

But the thing to note is by their standards

Yes.

Tanki listed a bunch of objective standards.

Many tankers didn't meet those.

Of those that met the objective standards, Tanki had unlisted subjective standards in the phrase "deserve recognition".

Where does it say the objective standards?

The words aren't used in Tanki's statements but the concept is utilized.

Needing to not use digital technology is one objective standard, for example.

so is it right

to call a photo your own when it belongs to a stranger

and we all tried our best to get something

but in the end it looks from the way i see it tanki

flipped threw ours faster and took more time and saw the Russians entry's

we never stood a chance to even place and the ones who did were lucky

i felt that the good ones were over looked cause they were in between

we did have entry's that were worth  crystals

Nothing will change ... Wasting of time and energy too .. It's better for all disappointed players calm down and think once more before taking a part in that kind of contest...

so is it right [Canada_wins here, I'll be posting in lime colour inside the quote of you]

to call a photo your own when it belongs to a stranger [1- if you are referring to the tank based off the logo, the tanker took a photo of their tank and called that their own, not the logo as their own; 2- but if you are referring to a different tank, I don't know which one you meant]

and we all tried our best to get something [i'm not questioning that since trying your best by everyone might be true, but trying your best was not one of the contest rule]

but in the end it looks from the way i see it tanki

flipped threw ours faster and took more time and saw the Russians entry's [i don't understand your wording here]

we never stood a chance to even place and the ones who did were lucky [if you are wrong then you are paranoid but if you are correct then there is a conspiracy; either way, I am not aware of any proof to valid these claims of yours]

i felt that the good ones were over looked cause they were in between [in between what? Don't understand your wording]

we did have entry's that were worth  crystals [this is only true if your conspiracy theory is a fact but if it's not, then they simply like the other entries more than yours and therefore according to them the tanks that did not win were not deserving of winning compared to the entries that did end up winning]

I came back before several hours went by, but only temporarily.

I'll be gone for at least several more hours due to my offline life.

The extra photos were a recommendation to prove that the 3D tank you entered wasn't made by a company, meaning that if you bought a tank and claimed it as one you made, then it would not be original.

You need to know that CONTEXT is more important than the word or phrase itself.

I am glad you went back to reread the rules.

I am disappointed that you didn't notice the context of the rules, which I pointed out in the first sentence of this post of mine.

And I'm a respected member of Tanki? :o

I didn't know that, but that's nice to know if you're not simply flattering me. :P

To help you with this, here is an article on HOW AND WHY TO THINK IN CONTEXT:

http://www.vanseodesign.com/web-design/importance-context/

I have not come here to learn English lessons from you. Thank you for your effort though.

I would like to say that originality does not only mean you build your own stuff but that also means build it out of your imagination and not take the complete idea from the topic picture itself (Mind it, not from google and not from any other place but from the topic post itself; SIMPLY WOW).

I am sure that guy is very much surprised to see himself as a winner. If I was in his place I would never have expected to receive a reward for making a duplicate. I wonder what tanki would have done if many more people had copied and pasted that same tank. That entry should have been the first to be eliminated due to complete lack of originality.

Indra,

I proved you wrong and you insist on ignoring the proof.

Then you go into lying.

I'm done with you  and will now block you because you are trolling...

Hi all,

First of all, those of you who didn't win, or who didn't place as highly as you would have wished, I understand your disappointment, especially when it took you so much work to create your tank.

However, I need you to understand something important.

There were 6 people voting, and not everyone had the same opinion of what made a good entry. Ultimately, we took the average of every vote for every piece of work and decided accordingly. For instance, I'm a huge foodie, so I really loved the food-related entries. But the other judges didn't share my opinion.

Ultimately, it is a SUBJECTIVE judgement. Art is subjective matter. If you have any doubts about that, you can spend a couple of minutes finding out how a canvas covered in blue paint with a strip of white running through, can sell for $43 million. Read that again. That's Forty-Three MILLION US dollars... not cents... not crystals... but dollars. The article is here: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2324723/Newman-abstract-painting-sells-43m-NY.html

No, I'm not trying to ridicule your claim. Not at all. I am a musician and I've taken part in many contests where I felt our band deserved at least a modicum of recognition, but had to swallow my pride and leave empty-handed. It hurts like hell.

But the way I see it, I make music because I love music FIRST, and because I want recognition and accolades SECOND (and I'm not even sure they even rank that high in my list of priorities). So even though it leaves a bitter taste when my band doesn't win, at least I'm consoled by the fact that I'm doing something I love.

My question to you is, did you enjoy making your tank? Because if you did, that is at least a little reward in itself. There's also the satisfaction of looking at your creation and thinking, "Hey, I did that on my own, and it's unique in the world, and I had a great time making it".

But if you hated every minute of making your tank, and you only entered the contest for the crystals and rewards, then I think you might want to rethink you priorities a little bit. Not saying you should; it's just a suggestion.

As for other issues mentioned in this thread, I'll try to handle as much as I can. At this point in time, I still haven't had the time to look through all 40 pages of posts. The reason is that I'm working 12 to 14 hours a day trying to wrap my head around what needs to be done to make a great community. And this being my first week as lead CM, I've barely just scratched the surface.

Thankfully, I'm surrounded by some great people whom I can trust completely, and they do ease quite a bit off my shoulders.

Once again, I'm sorry some of you are disappointed with the results in this contest. We created this contest in good faith, wanting to give you a really good time. But as in everything in life, you can never please everybody. That said, I know quite a bit of you had a good time (even some of those who didn't win). So that at least gives me some satisfaction.

All I can say is, we'll try even harder next time.

I have crafted a tank and I didn't take a prize, I think you have said that all the participants that don't make it to the first three will take 20000 crystals and the tank they made. What the hack is this?!

:o Wow, that artist's name rang a bell, so I Googled and found a different "art" painting of his and now realize that what Canada bought from him was tame in price by comparison for something that was essentially thematically identical.

Some call ut "modern art", which polarizes people because some find it refreshingly original and the rest of us find it as laziness.

But yes, I completely agreed with your super diplomatic post, including that art is subjective, similar to crap like this:

Then reread the rules to find out if what you thought is correct or not.

Thanks. In reality it's not diplomacy. I'm just trying to make you guys realize that I appreciate all of your efforts, and that I'm saddened by the fact that some of you are upset about the results, even though this was inevitable.

It's called "empathy". It's what makes us human (at least that's what I like to think)  :)

It's last time I participated in such trivial contest,

btw, those judges had to be objective and not subjective, as many people mentioned before,

many tanki players are not professional craftsmans and jury had to judge about originality and symbolic of entries as well,

for me, first of all, entries had to be  fun and artistic more than copies of original developers ideas

and at the end that sentence:

"The authors of all the entries that don’t make it to the top 3 but still deserve recognition, will be rewarded with special prizes as follows "

is  a fully cr ap, and place for many people doubts

everyone who took the part in this contest , and spent his time and creativity,  deserve to be recognized that way

That was a only fair solution

Guys, I understand your frustrations but that is no reason to judge on other entries. Those people did as evenly creative as you probably were. I saw someone saying that the 1st place probably bought that. Such specific design with a wasp and firebird XT even with lights in them are definitely not for sale anywere. This guy is hugely creative and really deserves to be on the first place. Be honest about it, it looks awesome.

Second, I see many people complaining about that tanki does not give their 'promised' prizes to everyone. This probably resulted in misreading what it said. It says that 'recognizable' entries will be rewarded 20 000 crystals, the MU's and some supplies. You sure can debate what they mean with 'recognizable', but Tanki never intended to give everyone a prize.
