Is Tanki Online really worth playing/climbing through ranks?

When I first started, it was quite fun blasting tanks. Things were much simpler at private to maybe the diamond ranks. It was really easy. It had the arcade feel of things. I admit, drugs were addictive. Simply press 1-5 and watch the enemy go BOOM! Very soon, I was draining my stack of meagre drugs quickly, which meant I had to purchase more & more as time goes on. The problem was drug kits cost a bomb and then I had to choose between them and equipment. Drugs makes ranks fast, but it puts on a serious financial strain in the long run. You just had to keep buying.

From Captain to Major, I realize drugs weren't the only problem, but also more mults/saboteurs/cheaters in battle also start to appear. It was quite troublesome, bringing a video cam to battle. I mean, should there be a way to fight these cheats with TO? Why must bringing a cam to game neccessary? Shouldn't the punishment be increased? This also meant no matter how much drugs I bring to the battle, I just cannot win due to them being rigged. Then why play in the first place?

Problem with buying? I get to pay more crystals than the Russians do. Just because I'm simply not Russian.

Then there's sportsmanship that RustyNail talked about. I rarely see that around, honestly.

There's also XP/BP. But I'm not good at light hulls format. I know I would suck there, terribly.

I forsee that even as I go higher, I can own all the M4s in the world, but if I don't join clans/make strong friends, I will continue losing battles. It also takes much time to grind to

If a game doesn't bring me joy, shouldn't I just quit?

Clans are the biggest problem.  Forming  raiding parties taking over games, inserting mults using every means to facilitate their master and other hierarchic  team members big payouts.  I see them often and even yesterday.  They put  mults in our team, that blocked getting the way deliberately, they did not score.  they tried to distract me by chat commenting and challenging me, I ignored that.

Their is also an imbalance between one M4 Turret and another. Some turrets are very overpowered, Smokey, Hammer, Vulcan.

quit sooner than later, and bring your good friends along

You're right. It's more frustrating than fun to play this game now. I worry if I become higher rank, same old problem will occur.

This means solo players will lose out on the game itself. While it's true that some turrets are OP, they still cannot save your game when raiders come in and your team does nothing.

Well, the only difference at higher ranks is that players are more experienced and battles are more intense. Also, battles are more dynamic because hulls and guns literally have higher firing speeds, rotation speeds and movement speeds. Most of the other differences are cosmetic (looks of higher grade guns, new paints, XT items, etc.)

But the map variety is really low and it's more difficult to kill players because everyone uses Isidas, repair kits and paints with high protection. I'd say that if the game starts to seem boring to you already, then there is no point staying.

Play on your alt once in a while to relax and not worry about cut-throat battles.

Alts are fun. :3 Unfortunately both high ranks & low ranks face similar problems. TO gets very hard from 3 to 4 stars onwards. Before that, not really.

Map variety already started decreasing from the lieutenant ranks onwards. Everyone wants to play the usual Serphouv/Rio/Noise/Polygon/Silence/Sandbox/Island/Arena with the occasional Barda, Kungur & Red Alert.

Actually that problem can be dealt with, if people in the team work together. Rock & Lumberjacks solve this problem. I remember in a few matches, team members would swap paints to help.

But most of the time, I feel like I have to carry the weight of the team alone because 3 to 4 members keep going AFK then it became madness.

Gameplay isn't a problem but people are.

NO never start!

Don't put yourself through it!

I'm too far gone...

Me too. But it's easy to stop sometimes.

It's 100% personal preferences, some enjoy 1 type of gameplay more than others.

You should ask the question only from yourself... we can only suggest new ways to enjoy. :)

But your basic question is an easy one... if the game doesn't bring you joy you should quit, there are definetly more worthwhile, or more  joyful things for you to do.

the most comfortable game  is between ranks 10 and 20 (esp if you are a veteran with various mults, like min half of the players nowadays)

generally ranking up is not good;

since the dawn of TO, there have been discussions how to SLOW the ranking up, so that one can catch up with accumulating crystals needed for the equipment on higher levels

U feel strained but u still can't stop playing what can we call that?................

addiction maybe yes

If you can easily quit it's good but if you wish to quit and can't then you are surely addicted

Well if you want to get out of the problem of weapons and drugs simply create another account if you are underpowered and you are unable to play. Complete your mission's in higher and play in smaller till u have enough crystals to buy then start saving in the lower and playing in higher

Hope this works out best of luck :)

I used to be all excited about ranking up all the way, but now that I am one rank away and I have all the turrets M3 and everything except dictator M3, there isn't too much else motivating me except getting micro-upgrades to get M4. It's a lot slower though, so it's annoying trying to get enough crystals just to upgrade one measly MU. Thankfully, I have a few turrets at 30-40 MUs and mammoth at 34/50

Enjoy every rank! Make friends along the way! Have fun! Win battles! Get good equipment!

Yeah, I started to realize that the hardcore druggers (or raiders) are actually in clans. It's not only groups of friends.

Then play DM. Mults are your friends here. Desert DM XP/BP is very good to play, takes a little bit of time to get used to but it's a fanstastic game mode. Lots of timing and observation, luck, and some skill

I'm too deep in

( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

How to make friends when no one speaks English there? Also, how did you get so many m3 kits?

Actually I fulfilled my goals for this account:

Get Colonel, get top XP earned in 1 day,get 2 M2 kits without buying & live off the land :P

Man, I haven't really played XP/BP in a long time.I heard it's hard.:(

Yeah it takes like almost a year for a guy whos a non-gamer and plays 2 hours a day if he finds a good battle.

It takes real long to get to Gissmo which sucks. I play other games and I mostly finish them and get to high rank by months by playing 2 hours/day.  and they made this Tanki X so another 1 year on this game for me which I won't waste :D

I'm a member since 2013 look at me lol. I quitted this game so many times.

It's actually very easy to hit gismo using drugs + Polygon CP. But for now, I'm thinking on taking a break from it. :P

Only doing missions, maybe..
