Ranks in battles - too wide a range

This is not something I really noticed or paid much attention to until quite recently but the majority of battles I can join on server EN3 m(my default server) has a range of 8 ranks, normally starting at the rank of Major. As a mere Lieutenant Colonel I more often than not find myself up against Marshall's and Field Marshall's.

 

I guess I am noticing it more as many of these players are buyers and the drug use, along with their M3 hulls and turrets is damned hard to compete against with M2.

 

It seems to be getting harder to find battles where I am even in the middle of the pack, let alone one of the highest ranks in a battle and I am beginning to get a bit fed up with the imbalance.

 

Maybe it is just me but would it not make more sense to reduce the range to perhaps 4 ranks, that would at least make for a more even battle surely? 

 

There also appears to be fewer lower rank players, or are they all hiding somewhere else? I can't even find them on EN4

Head over to EN4 . There is quite a few battle where you would be one of the highest ranks ;)

But I do agree. Like Generalissimos being able to fight Majors? That's not fair. But personally I like being able to fight people up to Colonial (although I normally avoid those battle like The Plague) cause it gives me a nice challenge

Don't get me wrong, I am not shy of a challenge but there comes a point where the challenge is simply too great to bridge the gap. Yes I can create a battle and be a "top dog" - providing enough people join but the numbers in the ranks below seem to have been quite scarce in recent times - maybe it's the time of day I am playing but I have seen as few as 4 CTF's on EN4 and 3 of them were 1v1, and this seems to be happening most days now.

I normally play right after Server Restart and I see a couple dozen battles in EN4 that Colonials are the highest rank so you wouldn't be to bad off

I kind of prefer the large range.  I have many friends in tanki that I usually talk to that range from 2 Lieutenant all the way to Generalissimo.  Right now, I'm able to play with them all.  But if the range is smaller, I won't be able to play with them.  Even if I rank up, I will not be able to play with my lower ranked friends.

Trust me this problem gets worse the higher up in rank you get. There are a combination of concerns at play here:

 

1-the entire concept of a default server

2-wide rank ranges in battles

3-too few players to support narrower rank ranges in battles

 

I have it on good authority that server assignment will be addressed, which will help but not solve this. Ultimately you just need to be careful about which battles you join based on the rank range and who is already playing.

To be honest, I don't like play tanki anymore because I can't find battles for my rank. Every time I find something there is much more higher ranks in... not fun indeed.

Try playing in russian servers. More battles for you as the topmost rank. I think RU7-9 to will be good for you.

I have no problem finding suitable battles at our rank ..

 

EN 3 is the perfect server for our rank .. There are usually battles with Major - General in Polygons and Second Lieutenant to Colonel mostly in other maps.

Field Marshal is a real problem. I'm not strong enough to face Gissmos yet. I do try Russian servers with some success.

There are points where its stupid, like when your a WO4 and your mostly m1 and then at 3 or 4 ranks above you, people can get the m2s of your weapons without buying an overpriced kit. Like once i was in this battle with my m1 smoky and this guy who had the atlas kit was beating me up with m2 smoky
