Even better question: Why do you wanna read the biography of a bloodthirsty killer? Because he is a@Thekillerpenguin?

Currently reading some program books as I'm not getting the hang of what to do and what exactly needs to be done.

Nuuuuu, don't hurt penguins. I believe everyone has a little penguin in him/herself.

Just read I, Robot a couple of weeks ago. It had a big message behind the chapters and the concepts were really interesting however he babbled for far too long early in most chapters and you just couldn't help but be bored.

It's more like a memoir and I'm only reading it because it I wanted to see what it was like, it's not like I'm actually going to take the book and start setting his beliefs into my own.

Just promise me not to start a third world war

Just because someone did bad things doesn't mean he has no life lessons to share.

Yeah, I get that. Kinda just to get some context on the subject, yeah?

Well this guy's life has been kinda twisted, don't you think?  Also its probably not a good idea to 'learn' lessons from a book that was shoved in people's faces from Nazi Germany, propaganda used to help brainwash people -_-.

btw, just finished 1984, great book  :)

It sure then teaches you how propaganda works, something of quite importance in today's world ;)

hence the first sentence of my comment ;)

but "mein kampf" probably isn't the book to read if you want uplifting devotional encouragement and important life lessons.

People do watch horror movies where merciless killing occurs but this doesn't mean they will actually kill someone. Same with the book.

People are free to choose movies and we are free to choose books.

I'm doing an assignment where I compare books to movies.

I've been reading The Kite Runner for the past few weeks and it's nothing like the movie. So many differences to list, looks like this will take a while. Book is pretty good, though.

I remember reading The Kite Runner, yes it was different from the movie, but Hosseini helped teach us about family, betrayal, and many other lessons. He did the same thing in A Thousand Splendid Suns, which I would recommend. He also teaches us about the politics in the Middle East and how that got us to the mess we have now.

mate i'm not stopping anyone from reading whatever they want. you go ahead and read whatever your heart desires. I'm simply giving my opinion. The book we're talking about preceded(and contributed) a very real, horrible time in history. Don't go near trying to justify anything to do with one of the biggest genocides in human history or the man behind it all.

Don't go anywhere near discussing politics ;) . It is against rules.

And I am not justifying killing anyone innocent. I am saying pretty simple thing. Just because Genghis khan killed thousands of innocent people doesn't means I shouldn't read about him or his view on why he did so.

Anyone with non-fiction?

A few but I don't really read them as such, usually just skip through them reading all the bits I'm interested in.
