Windows 10

Windows Vista takes 40GB Hard Disk space to install.

Windows 7 takes 20GB Hard Disk space to install.

Windows 8 takes 20GB Hard Disk space to install.

Why does Windows 10 only take 20GB of Hard Disk space if it has more features than Windows Vista, 7 & 8?

Windows 10 should take 100GB instead. Taking up 100GB of Hard Disk space is not a lot of usage because Hard Drives are on average of 1TB in storage capacity. That means that an operating system taking up 100GB of hard disk space will only use up 10% of space on a 1TB Hard Drive.

Optimization?

100 GB of space is a lot because people are installing other things than just Windows. And no, average storage capacity is not 1TB, it's the storage capacity of yours PC.

Yes I know. When you buy a new Laptop or PC, today in 2015/2016, the average hard drive storage space is 1TB capacity.

It does not matter if Windows 10 takes up 100GB of storage space on a 1TB hard drive. That is only 10% of the hard drive used by Windows.

If Windows 10 needs new features, new sample files such as mp3, images, and movies, then the size of Windows 10 would grow by a huge amount.

mate, the average song in MP3 format in duration of 4 minutes has about 5 MB. Some movies in duration of 3 hours can be compressed up to 900MB, and to maintain an excellent quality.

There is really no need for any version of Windows to contain hundreds of thousands notification sounds for Start up, Shut Down, mouse clicks etc and thousands of videos that explains use of Windows 10 features, such as use of the calculator.

Installed Windows 10 today, it works great!

Even FPS raised.

What's your problem with Win10?

And if it doesn't have so 3D icons, flat icons are cool too.

And performance is awesome, so...

Well the only complain win10 is privacy thing, battery life and bandwidth. Ah heavy RAM too (compared to previous windows)

And some minor thing like icon, windows design, and need to tweak a lot to make win 10 behave like win 7 or 8.1 (Wifi sense, Cortana off, etc)

I use win 7 8 8.1 10.

For me the best is 8.1. The aesthetic is very well done

The space between object. The size. The universal design that fit with all theme. The ergonomic aspect.

Beautiful...

Win 10 in other hand, feel like not enough love from designer (forced feel to make touch friendly, rush feel, some of inconsistency design)

Dont get me wrong, I was very fan of win 7. But I curious about Win 8 and try it.

Yeah start menu is kinda off at first. But you know, first time I know this thx to Win 8. I rarely use start menu after all.

Pin on taskbar and search (on charm bar) really work.

And u can bring more important app to the surface.

No need to browse lot of folder and scan lot of shortcut (like help guide uninstall). Just Pin to start. (Win 7 can do this, but only for limited app (6?) in limited space.

Of course the old style of start menu is exist (all app), but fullscreen only.

Ability to pause transfer file, advanced task manager, super fast boot and shutdown than 7, light RAM than 7. Better battery life. All better on 8.1

If you like win 7 choose that as win 7 is still updated.

If you want lastest technology without privacy conquer. Win 8.1

If you need DirectX 12, u dont have choice. Win 10

Windows 7 is in extended support. I strongly believe that the support for Windows 7 will last forever. Windows 7 is like the new XP in some ways.

Windows Vista is still under support, but, however, I believe that soon Microsoft shall stop support for Vista.

Hi. I am planning to buy Windows 10 in 5 years time. My post here features complaints that I have so far for the operating system. To begin with, I hate the look of the Apps next to the Start Menu. Please ask Microsoft to move the Apps that are next to the Start Menu to a special system folder called "Apps Gallery", like in Windows 7 where Gadgets are the location in a special system folder on Windows 7 platform, and when you right-click the desktop to bring a small menu.

Windows 10 needs to look, feel and behave exactly like Windows 7, but with, of course, the new technologies, including Apps. Apps belong in a special system folder like the Gadgets of Windows 7. Windows 10 is not yet finished. It will be finished in 5 years time in the year 2021.

Please share this post on the Microsoft forum as well, and spread the word. At the moment, I hate the look and functionality of Windows 10.

Below is a screenshot of the Windows 10 Start Menu:

windows_10_136400747236110401_1509291033

Please make sure that the Windows 10 Start Menu looks and behaves like the Windows 7 Start Menu.

This will be the last Microsoft product that w our family will own.  They are far too privacy invading.  I block off all microphones and tape over all cameras you can not trust them  They continually try to force you to update to another version even to the point of trickery.  Click on the update to say no and it will update!  I turn off automatic update and will destroy the computer if it updates on its own.,  perhaps apple might have its back door access they say no it but microsoft is obviously in cahoots with us security agencies and mega company snooping.  google micro soft even the operating system flash all spy look at you through your camera and listen with your microphone.  perhaps that might not concern many younger people but that is up to them.  So apple for me next.

Who dislikes @RIDDLER_8?

Why the heck would we hate Windows 10? It is the best operating system so far. My 6 year old PC boots to the desktop in like 10 seconds or less.

How would Microsoft make the operating system bigger? Also, most cheap laptops come with 16 or 32GB of storage space. If you want the file size to be bigger, then you pay the money to buy everyone a new computer with more space.

Obviously you have not been paying attention. Windows 7 will no longer be pre-installed on computers within a couple of months. That's why there is no Windows 7 on computers. Some PC manufacturers allow you to go to Windows 7, through downgrade rights of Windows 10. Windows 7 will continue to be supported for a further 5 years minimum.

We are not your servants. We are not going to post every one of your complaints here, where Microsoft won't see them anyway. If you would like to say something, you contact Microsoft yourself and give them your opinions. Your opinions are not ours.

Lastly, if you truly have all these negative things to say, JUST GET AN APPLE COMPUTER!!!!

Please don't dislike me.

I did not know that you loved Windows 10 so much, however.

I bet you still like, and use Windows 7 OS.

Microsoft said that they are continuously modifying Windows 10, so Windows 10 might merge back into Windows 7 or split into two operating system.

If Microsoft splits Windows 10 into two operating system that means that there shall be a desktop version and a tablet version like Windows CE. Windows CE was a version of Windows XP for tablets only. And, of course, there were the desktop version of Windows XP that ran of both desktop and laptop computers.
