Enjoyed the football yesterday. Great match, great atmosphere too.

+Mo Farah is a Legend.

It's been an enjoyable Olympics overall, the hosts have done a good job.

Looking forward to the next Olympics, I think this guys gonna take Bolt's World Record.

bg2vk0.gif

i think saying the hosts did a good job is a bit generous. most of the issues were just covered up.

You'd expect some issues in a major sporting event like this, it's a huge undertaking...thousands of individual contests taking place in the space of a few weeks in a country that's never hosted anything close to this scale. Hosting the football world cup is nothing compared to the Olympics(especially in a footballing nation), you've got to build the venues in time(from scratch in most cases) and a whole load of organizing and collaborating. According to a lot of stuff I read B4 the event, this was gonna be a total disaster....it wasn't.

hmm, the aussies didnt seem to think they did a good job with the olympic village

http://ftw.usatoday.com/2016/07/olympic-village-in-rio-is-uninhabitable-says-australian-olympic-committee

the jamaicans werent exactly fans of the village either

http://ftw.usatoday.com/2016/08/jamaican-team-arrives-in-olympic-village-its-just-a-mess

there are plenty of other examples of failures that happened. most of the issues get covered up

As far as those 2 links go...Is that it? A few bits of dodgy plumbing and wiring that you'd get in any newly-built building. And the athletes then moan that they had to stay in a nearby hotel for the short time it took them to fix the problems, which was probably paid for by their athletics organization..such hardship..pff!

BTW, saying the hosts' failures got covered-up doesn't make sense, as if they were u wouldn't even know about the issue that is being covered-up, unless you saw it with your own eyes.

I don't know about you, but when ever i move into a new place, its finished. I don't go to a new hotel and see paint buckets on the floor.  These people had years to get the buildings finished and they couldn't get it done before the athletes were even moving in. That's called bad planning. Many of the venues were finishing up  right before the start. That's horrible planning to get everything ready right before the games start. And no, that's not it.

http://www.smh.com.au/sport/olympics/rio-2016/olympics-off-the-field/bullet-fired-at-rio-olympics-equestrian-centre-20160806-gqmpws.html This article is about a bullet being fired into the media center for the equestrian events.

http://www.thewrap.com/olympic-media-bus-attack-rio-shot/ This article is about a bus carrying media members and volunteers being attacked and shot at.

http://ktla.com/2016/08/05/rio-2016-moroccan-olympic-boxer-arrested-following-rape-allegations/ This article is about a Moroccan Boxer raping 2 waitresses in the olympic village. Now this isn't the olympic committee's fault, but its just another thing that wasn't suppose to happen.

https://reportca.net/2016/08/rio-2016-lebanese-olympic-team-refuses-to-share-a-bus-with-israelis/ This article is about the Lebanese team refusing to let the Israeli team share the bus to the opening ceremony. The committee shouldn't have wanted to put them on the same bus since those countries have a hostile relationship. The committee should have put them on individual buses originally or made them share with countries they could get along with.

http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/more-sports/rio-officials-drain-refill-pool-rid-green-water-article-1.2749926 This article is about how the diving pool turned green because the maintenance people added hydrogen peroxide in the pool, which cancels the chlorine, which keeps the pool clean.

http://www.sltrib.com/home/4261434-155/water-issues-linger-for-residents-after This article talks about the filthy water in Rio, including in the bodies of water where they held water sports.

AND there is the issue of the Russian team being allowed to compete after the World Anti Doping Agency revealed that Russia had state sponsored doping programs for numerous sports, meaning the russian athletes were cheating and the russian officials not only new about it, but were helping and in some cases providing the drugs.

There are more examples as well.

Every olympics has issues Sochi had issues. Vancouver had issues. London had issues. Beijing had issues. But none of them had so many.

The medal table is done by Golds, then Silver, then Bronze, not total medals, meaning GB finished 2nd! :D Our best ever games, the first country to get a better total no. of medals the olympics after hosting! The legend that is Mo Farah completed the double double! :D Also, the closing cermony was pretty spectacular, GB had flashing shoes, the Japanese PM appeared as Mario, and there was a massive samba carnival party to end!

Most Tables are either done by gold or by total. I wish they would do it where it was a combination of total and gold, so  golds counted more then silver, which counted more then bronze. Heres example. Lets say country A wins 30 golds, 5 silver, 6 bronze. and country B wins 14 Gold, 40 Silver, and 43 Bronze.  If your just going by Golds, country A wins by a lot.  But if your doing the method I wish they would use, then country B would win because they have more medals total. By this method also, GB would finish ahead of china because china's 1 extra gold isn't enough to counter GB's large advantage in Silver.

Now that this Olympics are over, what are you looking forward to for the Pyeongchang 2018 Winter Olympics and the Tokyo 2020 Summer olympics?

I'm looking forward to Tokyo 2020 to see my friend at his second Olympics, if he gets the chance, and see him winning a medal on the apparatus still rings in gymnastics. :D

Im looking forward to tokyo to hopefully see Jden Cox win a gold in freestyle wrestling after getting a bronze this time. Im looking forward to see if there will be a new dominate american male swimmer. Im looking forward to Canada and Australia in basketball.  I know nothing about the european basketball leagues, but I know  Canada has a lot of players who play at US colleges and has had some high picks in the NBA draft(such as Wiggins and Tristan Thompson)so i think by 2020 they will be able to make a medal push. And if Ben Simmons turns out to be as good as his hype, then of Australia will be able to make a medal push.  I would think the medals for basketball in Tokyo will bill USA gold, Australia Silver, and Canada Bronze. .
