One of the reasons eSports isn't happening is because we want to set up an infrastructure that avoids these kinds of incidents. It's upsetting when you're having fun (both as players, and as organizers seeing an event being successful), and then some person comes and ruins it. So before we organize anything, we wanna make sure we have measures in place to avoid that kind of kill-joy situations.

 

 

This is a tricky thing. You have to understand that technically, I am the official voice of Alternativa for players, and I am the official voice of the players with Alternativa. Very often, players take my word lot more seriously than that of a mod, which is why mods often step back and leave the replies to me. There's also the fact that I'm always one step ahead of them, because I'm aware of things that they cannot be.

 

The downside is that (as you've mentioned) I cannot be everywhere. We kinda compensate for that through weekly reports where my mods bring me a "digest" of material I might have missed, as well as the hot topics of the week. I'll be aware of most of them, but there are others that would've slipped through the cracks if they hadn't been brought to my attention by my mods.

 

All in all, I'll admit openly that I feel like I'm never doing enough. PMs are piling up with every second, and forum replies are flooding in so fast I can't keep up. Obviously I'll keep trying my best, but I'll need you to be very patient with me.

 

On a final note, it really helps when people speak decently rather than go all out on the attack. I'm not easily fazed, after all, I did work as a casino dealer for 4 years, and the insults and threats I received there are much worse than what an angry player will tell me here. That said, it's so much easier to reply enthusiastically when someone approaches with kindness rather than aggression.

We aren't ignoring anybody's questions, either yours or the other players; however, some things need to be revised by the community manager, @Cedric Debono.

 

Cedric has already mentioned this before, but he doesn't plan to accept any more applications for being able to use Spectator mode anytime soon. He first needs to revise some stuff related to improving the Spectator team. Furthermore, if the players who already have Spectator mode show its usefulness, then he might decide to reopen applications.

Dejected fellow conveniently decided (after a couple of days of thinking) to take my quote out of the context and not to quote my complete point (which was made in a completely different topic btw), which goes on like this:

 

You gotta take several things into account: that topic is made two and a half years ago and Semyon is not EN community CM for six months now. Most of us in staff didn't even see TankiX until a few months ago, myself included, and we didn't get any info regarding that game either. In Alternativa HQ they obviously perceive Tanki and TX as two different games, with two different teams and all.

 

I'm not going to deny, Tanki definitely didn't win an award as a PR company of the year, they could've keep players updated about what is in their heads but when all is said and done, it IS up to the company to decide which direction they'll take in developing their product - don't forget that during these two and half years much has changed in IT industry, some things that were possible back then are not or will not be possible any more and vice versa.

 

As for myself, I'll be glad to try TX - it would be a nice change to start anew, with a new nickname, in the game where no one will recognize me :)

If you guys decide to be less dejected and look at things a bit differently, you're going to realise that some other things are more important in life...

I honestly get what you're saying. But please understand that the devs depend on me to speak for them. Honestly, I spend a lot of time in here and can barely keep up. If they had to actively respond in here, nothing would ever get done. They already work ridiculously long hours as it is.

If you wonder why players talk angrily sometimes, it's possibly because the kindly softly approach fell on deaf ears or was treated derision and ridicule.

I'm sorry but it still doesn't justify approaching people in a hostile manner. Personally, I tend to listen more when someone approaches me with a civilized argument rather than with abuse and insults (not saying you did that, just talking in general)

Did you miss the dozen or so posts where I specifically explained why we changed our position about account migration? If so, let me repeat it here for your benefit.

1. Originally, the intention was to close down Tanki Online, and for Tanki X to take over. That is why at the time it made sense to say that accounts would be transferred.
2. However, as both games continued to develop, we found that the two games were slowly drifting apart in concept. We also realized that when Tanki X came out, many people would still want to play Tanki Online. That is when we decided that it made sense to keep open and support both games. Additionally, since the two games were growing apart, it no longer made sense —nor was it practical— to migrate accounts.
3. Another point is that we want players to enjoy the early game stages in Tanki X. Starting from the endgame kills a lot of the fun that exists in the initial stages of the game.
4. You also need to realize that the "promise of migration" was made more than 2 years ago. In the lifespan of an MMO, 2 years is practically a lifetime. Some games don't even last 2 years on the market. So many things can change on the internet in 2 years, that it's very hard to make predictions, let alone accurate ones.
5. So NO, we did not deceive you. We made a statement with the best of intentions, but time showed us that it did not make sense to stick to that statement, so we did what was right and followed the most sensible path.
