[Declined] Age restrictions?

Recommended Posts

Unfortunately, parenting has changed drastically over the past couple decades. Used to be, parents took a direct interest in what their children were doing and how they were spending their time. Then came the advent of hand held electronic games, such as GameBoy. These devices became babysitters. As long as the child was playing a game, (s)he was quiet and out of Mom and Dad's hair.

Today, these children are grown with children of their own. Adults have a tendency to bring up their children as they themselves were brought up, unless there is a drastic cultural change, such as the electronic age. Some parents are still using electronics as babysitters and call them a learning tool. Don't get me wrong here, they can be excellent learning tools, if used as such with some parental involvement.

What I'm getting at is this: Even if there was an age restriction, and even if parental consent has to be given, what's to stop the parent from giving consent just to keep the "Kid" quiet, out of sight and out of mind. After all, it worked for them so why not their own child?

On the other hand, some parents have put their child on the "mature pedestal" by saying (s)he is very mature for h(is/er) age. Most times, it's an over rated opinion of the child. With this in mind, I have seen parents buying M rated games for their Pre-Teen child. I've pointed out the rating to the parent only to be retorted with, "That's okay, he's very mature for his age, he can handle it."

So, unless you can physically see the child, there is no way an online game can tell what age the child actually is and cannot enforce the age restriction anyway.

I honestly think this game is for mature teens and adults, not little kids. And right now, I'm guessing that the majority of the players in the game are kids so why not do something about it?

I think there should be an age restriction in the game in which the person must be at least 13 years old to play. Anyone under that age won't be able to play, it would also reduce the chance of someone raging in a battle.

Just a thought

Why? I mean I am serious you said it yourself that is a good majority of the community that would be the biggest blow to the game ever we wouldnt have hardly any competition no offence but if you are 25+ you shouldn't be spending a lot of time on video games, they were designed for teens and young people in general I do agree there should be a sort of age limit like a guardian approval, simply because other games that are rated for anyone do.

At 18+ years, you can swear all you want, tho I prefer not to. I used to go to school where students said just about every cuss word in the dictionary in almost every sentence.

Nope. You sign a contract when you hit "Sign Up" or "Register" it Says by signing up you agree to .... That means any rules tehy enforce you have to follow or you don't use thier service there is no reason anyone needs to use profanity or swear or talk about sexual stuff, this is a game not a dating site. If you wish to talk like that go use snap chat facebook or zoosk or eharmony whatever else there is. There is no reason you should NEED to use those kinds of words. They will ban you for using such words.

Yep, and the fact is just because they are kids doesn't mean they need to be ruined. Plus, xmas what do you think hardcore kid players ask for? They ask for Giftcards to exchange for currency. That is a money maker for Tanki so there are lots of reasons why they shouldnt restrict it.

Tanki is not a substance abuse substitute right :P :P

Sarcastic voice: "Tanki is for 18+. Please do not use this under any circumstances if you are pregnant or plan on or are using a transportation vehicle" :P :P
