Actually, that's pretty good logic to me.

 

Forest map is unpopular, players hardly play it. And so they give a big reward for playing in Forest so that players actually do the mission, and not skip it because it's reward is just the same as any random other map.

I believe it is from the Xmas sale of 2014/2015 when XT Rail/Hornet was being tested out along with Frost paint. (They were testing XTs and Premium paint as well as celebrating). So the XTs then went away for around 7 months and then came back in premium. But the one is prob from a contest.

Earn 300 exp on forest map's reward is not same as compared to other maps, lets suppose its same but reward for earn 1000 exp is kinda noob.
