Could Micro-upgrading be faster than full upgrading of any equipment?

I'll ask you the question: Could micro-upgrading is faster to fully upgrade an equipment than saving much crystals because the turret you want to upgrade is very, very expensive and upgrade the turret?

  - extremely slow process, waiting for each MU sale and doing 5-10 steps at a time can take years
  - takes a lot of effort, such as setting alarms in order to start the next upgrade step as soon as the previous one completes
  + not very expensive, but still full price of M3

Something like that.

So if you ask me, I'd recommend the second option, as it's the most balanced one and easily affordable for a free player. If you want to be able to buy more stuff, go with the first option, while if you are willing to buy some crystals - go for third. Fourth option is for extremely stubborn free players, who want to get maximum benefit without buying a single crystal. But I'm not sure if it's even realistically possible.

why would you "have to" MU (without discounts)?

 

Advantage - early performance upgrades for a lot of crystals.

 

Disadvantage - costs a LOT of crystals for each step - especially if you use speed-ups.
