Forum avatars for spectators

Recommended Posts

I think all Tanki Online Spectators should have an Avatar.
Here is a bad example that i made in around 2 mins.

Spec_avatar.png  (I'm not good with editing)

I think this is a good idea in my opinion, So tankers who are in the forum can find Spectator's much easier. And can PM us for any help they need (they will see the Spectator Avatar)

I think Most YouTube Spectators will agree on this.

Under review
Edit: Declined

"Videomakers" are not an official helper group. They have no duties and responsibilities, while their spectator mode is given to them for fun and personal use, rather than a tool that they should use for the benefit of the community. They don't officially help the game and therefore don't get an avatar.

why should they in the first place . there just like normal players the only thing they can do is take good video's , who's to say others are not as good as them.  but have not been given that royal seal of approval by the CM . and last i heard there was only 2 or 3 that have it . so why I ask you ??

The easiest way to find a spectator and to ask them for help is through the form (hire a spectator). Many players, especially the newer users of the forum, do not notice a difference between the various avatars on the forum, and if they do, they hardly know what each one represents.
The purpose of avatars is so players can easily see who's a representative of the game, who they can turn to for help about anything in the game.

There's no added benefit for a spectator to having an avatar. Perhaps in the long run, if there's a well organized spectator group that is there for the whole community, it might be an idea. Currently, I don't see why they should have one.
Feel free to discuss and prove me wrong though!

I'm full agree with CooperO, the avatars are useful to recognize the helpers of the game, but spectators are not really helpers of the game, they are more for free fun for the TO players and entertainment.

Event helpers are too, even if reporters write some articles strictly for entertainment, they are also there to dissect and clarify new things added to the game or as published before, a review of Cedric's live stream for those who couldn't watch it live and don't have the time to watch the recording, which can be helpful to all players, especially those who'd rather clearly understand things with 100% clarification.

As far as spectators receiving an avatar for their work, I'd think it'd be a good addition so that they'd be labeled for other players to easily recognize them.

I must step to the side of J3L4CK here.

Reporters are, as a matter of fact, helpers of the game. We do our best to aid players in finding new information about the game, stay relative in the latest "news", and yes (in my case especially), bestow a few smiles on their faces. If we aren't helpers, I have no idea what we are. What other purpose does the newspaper have besides helping players (and earning crystals :x)?

Side note.

I, personally, don't care about avatars. I wouldn't mind mine being stripped away, as long as I can keep my position as a reporter. To me, they're more of a boost to one's self esteem, a "look at me, I have an avatar, I'm special," as appose to a way for players to find helpers quicker. Yes, they are an assessment of "this player is a moderator," but they aren't really all that important. We should only keep them because that's the way most forums / organizations run, but we don't need to go around deciding what position does and doesn't deserve an avatar.

That's just the way I see it.

Event helpers are also helpers for the game, players can join an event and have fun. Reporters are also helpers because they're writing guides/articles for everyone. But spectators aren't helping the helpers team, they're recording and editing video's. I honestly don't see why they should get an avatar

"Helpers - that is - those who work for Tanki and helps players, but yet Spectators (most of them) are making youtube videos about Tanki."

I found this quote from someone that I would like to share.

Whoa whoa! Why all the hate for my post? :D

I'm not saying that reporters should NOT get avatars. I'm saying that it's wrong to assume that spectators aren't helpers simply because they "only entertain". Therefore saying that specs are not helpers is a bad reason for not giving them an avatar.

Let me rephrase a little bit:

"Reporters are also there mostly for entertainment and they get avatars, so why shouldn't spectators get their own avatars for being official entertainers?"

See? This is one of the major reasons why my inbox gets flooded with random questions regarding events, chat bans and tournaments. I'm online at least 16/7 on the Forum right now, and the people just see my name and send me messages. We need to get people to learn what avatar is what <_<

I beg to differ. It's true we post a lot of articles for the sole purpose of entertainment, but the majority of articles are guides, reviews and recent news in the community. In other words, we focus on guiding players in various spheres of Tanki environment, provide tips and tricks and inform and clarify stuff that recently happened in the game. Humor and entertainment is something we like to inject in our issues.

You just said the same thing with different words dude.

Spectators are not "official helpers" of the community. They got the Spectator because they make videos in their time in the first place. And what's more? Most of the Tanki videos I have seen are filled with hacks, cheats, scams and profane language. Making a video takes two-three days max? While we "entertainment guys" pump out the latest guides to the most newest of updates, writing everything, every detail to make sure nothing its left. There's pictures, GIFs, videos and all other Newspaper-related items working together to create one article; and there are about eleven to twelve a month.

If you're really being like that and saying we are here just for entertainment purposes, that's not nice <_<

Make a newspaper guide and a youtube video guide on a certain turret. Tell me which one  gets more views and likes.

Make a newspaper guide and a youtube video guide on a certain turret. Tell me which one  gets more views and likes.

A visual guide is a brief guide (in this case, a turret), you can't write a text wall in a video, now can you? That's where the Reporters come in, who write about about that turret in great detail.

And if a turret gets updated, you can't go back an edit the video, right? But you can go back and edit the article, though we tend to write a newer one instead of editing the previous one.

So even if a video gets more views and likes, it is always the written guide which is easier to understand. If you really want an example, here's a video guide to Magnum, and here's an article.
