Custom controls for self-destruction

Recommended Posts

Anyways, so I was playing Tanki on my Dads mac the other day, (Amazing does btw, something I don't usually get on my Dell ? ) When I flipped over, and to my chargain, the keyboard had no 'delete' button!! Only a backspace! (Which is also really annoying when I'm writing reports ? )

I remember custom controls had been introduced, so I gave a sigh oh relief and headed to settings, only to be startled that there is no option to change the button for Self Destructin!! This is just a minor change, but I believe it is ness as army. Thoughts?

P.S. Anyone here with a Mac able to tell me how to SF?

Valid
[ctrl]

I checked the settings menu, and there is indeed no key configuration option for the self destruct key.
It makes sense to have it.. or at least to change the help text if you flipped over.

For mac users you can do it like the general proposed it:

Easy for Mac users, Fn+Backspace = Delete :D Cmd+W to close window :D

I think it's Function-Backspace on a Mac ;)

This is pretty self explanatory but why isnt there an option to change the self-destruct button in the settings? I dont know about anybody else but my laptop doesnt have a delete button so when i flip its kind of frustrating to keep having to refresh or wait for someone to kill me which at that point who knows how long that would be. Just please put an option to change the self-destruct button.

nothing like an FN backspace ;)

Have to say I'm using one of those low profile Apple Keyboards on my PC... lovely thing it is, but it is a bit of a nightmare at times not having keys you expect.

I'm normally not a Mac user, but I have used one. It's very frustrating being used to using Windows and then switch to Mac and vice versa. Two entirely different OS. If I hadn't read the comments here, I wouldn't know how to SD on a Mac.

Why not have an alternate button for SD? Makes sense to me. Seems rather obvious the Dev's don't use Macs.

Lol don't be a fool that is to close the window. I use a macbook so in order to self destruct you press fn + backspace.

Delete

Mac computers are so perfect, that every thing you type there is so perfect, that nothing ever get's deleted, so that there is no delete key

(they do have a backspace though :p)

just kidding about the reasons :) - but Macs do truely have no delete key.

I AM A VERY BIG MAC FAN! Back to the matter in hand, you can Self Destruct on Mac by 1. pressing fn + delete (backspace) or 2. by pressing control + \ For all you Windows users, Mac OS is a LOT better than Windows, I was once Windows user myself (I hate to admit it) so I can tell you honestly. If you switch to Mac and your days of a frozen PC, black screen, and painful frustration will be over. Oh sorry I am on a rant, have a nice day.

I'm not a Mac user, but having an alternate button makes perfect sense. Windows users could use it too if they wanted to assign delete to another character or number to make it more convenient.
