What to buy? Which is better?

Fair enough. Is there gonna be another set of challenges afterwards?

There should be.

Nah, don't get the battle pass, you have almost no stars. Only get it if you have several hundred. Btw, if you're using Tinypic, then copy the "Direct Link for Layouts" then click the little image icon on replying box (next to the code and quote buttons) and paste the link you just copied into that box, Sorry that's kinda confusing :P

I know how to upload images, it's just that I'm on mobile ATM.

As I get to M3 ranks, what should I get: Smoky, Fire, Magnum, Rail, Gauss, or Twins? That's what I'm choosing from, based on kits. I can play decently with Rail but I know it's not super strong. As I side note, I will be getting Hornet/Hunter + one of the above turrets, so... I can't decide. Plans are to get Centaur (Shaft/Hornet) and make the Shaft M4, and also get a Hunter kit and make the Hunter M4. I already have Rico M3 so I'll just claim that once I get to Marshal. I've never really played with Smoky or Twins, so I'm unsure about that, but I'm thinking that Rico already covers that area. The parkourist in me really wants to get Magnum with the protection (then I could also use RGC Mag with my Hornet), but ever since sergeant my dream kit has been Prometheus, so...

TL;DR

With an existing garage of Shaft/Hunter M4 and Rico/Hornet M3, should I get Gauss, Magnum, Twins, Fire, or Smoky? Yes, I'm leaving out Rail.

I have an alt with M1 Railgun MUed to 5/10 and a stock M1 Titan. Should I get the faster turn speed alteration or keep MUing the Railgun?

What rank and how much savings do you have?

Third Lieutenant, 10000-ish crystals.

If that's all you have in that account then your account is in really bad shape. If you want to save it then you should forget about alterations, do only missions and save for MUs or an M2 kit.

What about thunder?

What about thunder?

Thunder doesn't have a Hunter kit. As an edit: add in Vulcan to the above list.

Second option: Shaft/Hornet M4 and Hunter+Gauss, Magnum, Twins, Fire, or Smoky M3, OR Dictator/Vulcan M3.

LolxD. You're just trying to get me annoyed, right? :P STRIKER!?!! You know I dislike Striker. Anyways, unless they add more kits the only options are the ones I've named :) But thanks for taking the time to reply :)

I made some mistakes along the way when buying my ktis, but since you already have a maxed-out Shaft-Hunter and Rico M3, there's really no point in getting the Redneck kit. That can wait until you get to Marshal. As for your choices, I think you should go with Hornet-Shaft and Dictator-Vulcan.

I know I'm leaving out Hunter, but allow me to explain. The swaying on Hunter while scoping in has recently become horrendous. I don't know why this happened, even though I initially assumed it was to do with weight. Wrong. Even Hornet was much more stable when zooming in. So I switched to Dictator, and everything became much better. It flinches way less when it's shot at, it is the best team asset, and it is also a gold box magnet.

Nobody gives enough praise to Vulcan M3, so let me start this off. Vulcan M3 is a huge step up from M2, and it is definitely very worth it. You deal a 100 damage per shot, so combined with DD and Booster, you're going to be doing some crazy numbers, and this is only from one single bullet. Do I have to remind you that Vulcan shoots at over a 1500 RPM(faster than even the fastest submachine guns)? It literally melts people in instants, and In DM it is even more insane. You start shooting at a chokepoint, and you just watch your name light up on the killfeed. It's insane. Plus, literally 5% of people actually bother to put on the protection for this turret, making it perfect for any game mode possible.

Centaur is my favorite kit in the game of all time. In fact, I'm writing an article for the Newspaper about it right now, but the sheer speed at which you can play with this kit is neck-breaking. Put on Light Capacitors and you'll be like FaZe going off on some poor noobs. Shaft M3 is already a very powerful weapon in itself, allowing for one-hit kills of medium hulls in just a few upgrades from M3, which is very good for the F2P player. Hornet M3 is yet another beast - its M2 version is seen everywhere in the M2 ranks because it is cheap but weak. While Hornet M2 was all about crazy drifting, the M3 version is much better at lettng you control it. 360-degree shots are very easy to pull off because of the sheer turning speed of Hornet. The Eagle M3 module is also such a great module, which is included in the kit itself. Plus, since the kit is so cheap, you'll definitely get a lot of bang for your buck.

Your question, is, however, whether to get Fire, Smoky, Twins, Magnum, and Gauss. Let's give some honest opinions here:

Magnum: The scum of the earth. Every battle there is someone who camps at the back of the map shooting howitzers into the sky and actually getting kills even though they aren't doing anything for the team. When I force a Magnum to self-destruct thanks to their projectiles, I always say "You deserve that ten times over". What were the devs thinking when they buffed this monstrosity?

Gauss: Semi-auto version of Shaft. I've been waiting a long time for a marksman rifle to appear in Tanki. I'm glad to say it was worth the wait, because Gauss is amazing. The reload is on par if not better with Sledgehammer Thunders, and the sniping mode brings insanity, okay? Triples all day with that thing. Do I have to mention that literally no one has Owl modules more than 25%? It's almost sad in a way that you get to abuse this, but at least I'm glad to have bought the module myself  :D

Firebird: Nightmare of any DM player out there. Now crank it up a notch with the Compact Fuel Tanks and you've got your tank on a cocaine binge. It's no wonder why this alteration is so popular: once you heat up a tank that can't use a Repair Kit, you can just go along your way to your next victim. It's really that easy.

Twins: It's a well known fact that Twins users are very good at the use of bricks. Unless you want this tradition to spread to you, I would stear clear of this turret.

Smoky: It's always been the beast hiding in the shadows. The damage per second that Smoky pulls off is already powerful even without the critical hits, but land them as well and you've got trouble in a package coming straight for the enemy.

So, if I had to choose between any of those turrets, it would be either Gauss or Firebird. I have expressed why I hate Magnum and Twins, and even though Smoky is good, it's not as powerful as the other two. You said you wanted Prometheus, and I see no reason why you shouldn't get it.

Unless you want to blow up Chernobyl, in which case look no further than the monstrosity of Gauss.

Have you encountered any Reinforced Gun Carriage Magnums? I can't tell whether they are more annoying that Mortar magnums sitting in the back. I use RGC Magnum a lot and it is fun but definitely too powerful (Magnum, not the alteration, probably).

So is Gauss, Freeze and Isida. They all have the biggest gaps in statistics from M2 to M3 because of their cheap price.

And just t let you know, Vulcan's damage calculation is...I really don't know. It says that it deals damage in 0.25-second ticks but there are many numbers appearing. Sometimes, you would see the damage being locked at one single number which is 1/4 of the damage parameter of the Vulcan.

I have it M2 5/10 on one of my accounts and I look at how fast unprotected enemies die when I have double damage enabled. it's a nice speed, and those 2 buffs to its damage helped. I still think it's a niche turret because why use something hard when something easier is almost as if not more rewarding to use than Vulcan.

I find that it pairs nicely with Dictator.

I'm not sure if I should pick gauss, vulcan or stick with what I have. It feels like it's going to take ages to get to the rank where I can get striker m2, to microupgrade it. Railgun is alright for the fun factor, but using only rail and striker gets boring. Rico kinda really needs MFS in nearly every map, it's not as enjoyable as it could be if it shot faster... The only m2s I could get are freeze, gauss, and vulcan to spice my game up a bit.

I know gauss m2 does amazing, it can get good scores even at 4 star rank, so micro upgraded could be a beast, but I never tried vulcan past m1 either.

I don't feel necessary to get a new hull, as I have one of each type, with dictator being even m3.

Alternatively I could keep saving up for modules such as grizzly or the orka to protect against self damage... I dunno.

Having lost a few of my usual groupers I'm mostly left alone in matchmaking, which doesn't help my fun factor in here. So maybe spicing it up with a new weapon would help. I would buy during a sale only.

Probably the only explanation I can accept for someone's abuse of this turret.

I have encountered many Reinforced Carriage Magnums sporting Viking. You know my hatred towards Vikings already, but this is brought to another level when a lone Magnum kills my Juggernaut tank within 2 seconds. Mortar Magnums are another evil altogether. Camping at the back launching tubes all game - it's like MW2 multiplayer all over again.

This has brought one good thing, however. I see that the Magnums sporting Mortar have started using the Miner drone - a drone which you would virtually see no one use. Well, at least the drone now gets its 15 minutes of fame - until Magnum inevitably gets nerfed.

True.

Yeah, I don't know what they did when they were calculating the damage figures for Vulcan. It's a bit weird but at least it's pretty consistent when it comes to quick kills. It really is a melt machine, isn't it? Since no one bothers to put protections against Vulcan, you can just use that to your advantage, especially in DMs where you have to watch those corners (this is why SSR is so useful).

The only turrets I have in my garage that are M3+ are the ones that are not ridiculously OP but are strong enough to be rewarding. Nothing makes me more mad than to see countless people abusing and exploiting OP turrets and Overdrives...

It really does pair well with Dictator. That headglitch on Wolfenstein scored me many kills when I was getting stars for the Challenge. Dictator's weight and turning profile makes it ideal for Vulcan with its gyroscope. I genuinely think that is kit is on the better end of the spectrum of M3 kits in Tanki. It pays you back fully not only through battles, but also through golds. I mean, come on, Dictator is a literal gold box magnet. Even with the new Overdrives, you can still catch the occasional container. Nothing makes me happier.

Woah, no wonder I've been seeing more Miner Drones. That drone is the only drone that isn't game-changing in MM battles. With every MM duration decrease, its effectiveness goes down. I thought the drone would only save mines planted by the tank itself. That explains why some craters of dead Magnums still have mines in them.

As for RGC Magnum with Viking, the low profile is great for it. I use mine with Hornet so I'm accustomed to aiming it with Hornet.

The thing I don't like thinking about with SSR is everyone has an immediate 20% protection module against you. But if I were to ignore that and play long enough for me to trick myself into thinking that it's Stock Vulcan, then I would see past the damage decrease. Get accustomed to new figures. Just like earlier where I switched to Uranium. I've been using RRE and Missile Launcher "Hunter" instead of Uranium for so long and I forgot how slow the rockets were. i could have sworn they were faster than the speed I saw.

The only turrets I have in my garage that are M3+ are the ones that are not ridiculously OP but are strong enough to be rewarding. Nothing makes me more mad than to see countless people abusing and exploiting OP turrets and Overdrives...

I can't blame them for using OP alterations and turrets (that are OP for a few months). Under the circumstances of Overdrives and Challenges, they'd want to get stars as fast as possible. For these types of situations, you may have to fight fire with fire, you buy the OP alterations and turrets and fight them with it. If you realise that your current equipment just isn't doing it for you in battles, then the OP equipment would.

It's not necessarily a glitch. It's just utilising Vulcan's downward auto-aim which is 12 degrees (that's a fairly large downward auto-aim). Since all medium-range turrets have the same downward auto-aim, you can try it with those to see if it works as well.

I don't know how they price the kits but Eyjafjallajökull was always on eh expensive side.

Vulcan is really fun, especially with Dictator. And if you're looking at my profile and thinking that I've barely used it - I do have a Vulc account ;)

Do you have Titan? If so, get Incendiary Vulcan (still crazy) and you can fire those barrels all day with the help of your OD. Now, if you use Vulcan, you don't group with an Isida - you group with two other Vulcan/Titans. ODs all battle long. I've gotten top spots with Vulcan easily with 0 drugs.
