@At_Shin, @sharifsahaf, and ESPECIALLY @BloodPressure THANKS! A lot! I think I am now convinced I should now buy Minus-Field Stabilization, considering all the aspects of the augments/alterations you have given me and my amount of crystals, and hope you all have good holidays!

No problem man, glad I could help ?

I'll MU my Vulcan M6-1, Rail M5-7 and Wasp M5-7 to M6-10. Depending on the sale, I may be able to buy another item. If Ares comes out this B-day like they've promised, I may buy it. But if not, what should I get? Turret? Hull? Or upgrade my modules since they're M4?

I'd like an alternate long range turret other than my Rail. No joke, everyone is using Fire and Rail protection. I'm thinking of Shaft or Magnum...

I'd like to try Hornet just to feel how stupidly OP it's OD is, but I'd probably get bored of it quickly... I'd like to try Dictator simply cause it's shape makes its gameplay different, but I feel like it's OD isn't very good since Hornet and Hunter's OD are very common.

I've got 20-25% protection on a few turrets, but it doesn't seem like it's enough. I've been thinking of upgrading them to M5-6 especially Rail...

Opinions appreciated

You have too many options on your mind, but I'll try to clear some stuff up.

First, don't consider buying Ares. Even though the new hull seems like a cool and truly unique concept, you have no idea how it will function - in fact, none of the playerbase does. Since its controls are totally different compared to other hulls, Ares may not come to your liking. Plus, people speculate that Ares will be only available in the shop at first; if that's the case you won't be able to buy the hull anyways.

Looking on your profile, you already have a good light, medium and heavy hull, two good medium-range turrets, firebird and railgun. In general, that is a good collection of equipment parts. What I am mainly missing are protection modules; most of them are only at Mk4 and at your rank you do want to be sufficiently protected against certain turrets.

My advise would be to go for protection modules, modules I recommend Grizzly, Falcon, Owl or Shark.

Anyways, if you do insist on buying a weapon or hull, let's check your options.

First, I would say to go for a close-range turret, such as Twins, Ricochet or Hammer - this way, you have at least one turret for every kind of range. I personally have only experience of Ricochet, so I cannot tell you about the other two turrets. Ricochet is a good and fun weapon to use, that's why I am giving it Bloods Stamp of Approval (yay).

You wrote that you are maybe planning to buy another long-range gun. To start off: do not buy a weapon only for its augment. Nowadays, augments are very expensive in price and buying one will take a huge chomp out of your capital, plus augments are only an addition to a weapon; they do not make the weapon itself. Remember this when considering buying a new turret.
Magnum is one of the difficult, if not the most difficult weapons to use in the game. It requires a lot of experience and practice to at least know how to control this weapon with a bit. Be aware of this!
About Shaft: I am well-experienced with it and I can say that, without alterations, it is still a good weapon to use. Shaft is a turret with which you can practice different playing styles: one does not need to solely rely on camping to have a good score, you can go out in the open too and show your enemies the true power of Shaft - practice makes perfect, I won't go into alterations, that is another topic.

You don't need new hulls, but if you want to, here is some advice. As I told you about turrets and augments, this also goes for hulls in a way: do not buy a hull only for its overdrive! To substantiate this, you will have to use your hull more often without its overdrive than with, and you want to be comfortable with the hulls mechanisms. I dont have a preference list of hulls, this is up to you, but again I do not recommend buying a new hull

TL;DR:   Go for modules. If you really want a weapon, go for Ricochet or Shaft. You don't need a new hull anyways, so dont focus on Ares or Hornet or Dictator

Thank you for the lengthy reply. You went beyond expectations LOL.

I've split the post into sections to make it easier upon myself:

1. You've made great points: it may be difficult to control, and I may dislike its playstyle. However, I'm always open to try new Turrets, Hulls and Alts to excite my gameplay -- It gets boring after months on using and upgrading the same garage, not to mention doing this over several accounts over the years... The controls and gameplay are unconventional, but look at Magnum's release: it did (and still) has revolutionary gamebreaking design. ?

2. IMO Vulcan is most effective at shortish-medium range because of the travel time of the bullets, but I know what you mean. I've played with Hammer M3 before on one of my old accounts, and I don't think it's all that special. Then again, it was before Alterations came out.

Here I'll point out that you can't see the Alterations I've got in my profile, but I bought a few before they shifted to Containers until they decided to return them to the Garage and made them hella expensive.

I've got Dragon's Breath, but in hindsight I don't think it's a very good Alt. The pellet spread is detrimental.

I'd rather buy Rico. I always see "Rico is the weakest Turret at those Ranks", but it's got a very good time-to-kill now. I don't have Berserker since I wasn't at the available Rank for purchase, but I've got Minus-field. I've played with Rico M3 on my very first Account years and years ago, and I enjoyed it very much. I'd use the bounce effect whenever I could unlike this new generation of plebs that don't use its ability at all.

3. I constantly alter my camera with Q and E, and swivel my Turret to get a good view of the field. That's why I'd use my Reinforced Carriage Alt with Magnum. I don't have any Magnum Modules, but I'd need one if I were to buy it. Magnum is so frickin' powerful -- debatably it's not a long range Turret with Reinforced Carriage, but I think it'd be fun to use with my Hunter and Wasp.

4. I love Shaft. I've played with it several times on old accounts. I was a camper in the beginning like everyone, but I evolved to love aggressive, on-the-run sniping. That's why I bought Light Capacitors because I appreciated the increased Turret rotation, but they recently removed Heavy Capacitors' Turret rotation debuff... I've yet to try either of them yet so I may enjoy Light Capacitors anyway. I couldn't buy the Rapid Fire Alt, but I think it's a solid Alt for aggressive snipers too.

5. Fair enough, I was looking for new ways to spice up my gameplay to get me motivated to play more so I could earn those Challenge rewards, but the HTML5 Client sucks and crashes constantly anyway -- But there're lots of topics on that.

6. Yeah, buying Modules may be the play -- even at M6-10 Hulls it doesn't seem like ~20% protection is doing anything nowadays. But then again, I'd like to spice up my gameplay options... Depends on how many Crystals I've got after the sales I guess. I'll need to calculate the price tag to see what I can buy. If I've got enough, I'll buy and MU Shaft most likely. If not, I'll upgrade my Modules. ?

As a response to your answer:

1. If you want to try out new things, I recommend using the test-server. Once Ares is released, you can try it out by using these alternative servers instead of buying it yourself on your main account. The next 50% sale is most likely to happen in September, so do not feel like you are in a hurry or something.

2. Dragon's Breath does not have a pellet-spread penalty anymore (Duplet does however), now DBs only drawback is the 10% extended reload time. Almost all of Hammers augments are valuable, being it Slugger or Adaptive Reload. But remind yourself again that you shouldn't buy a weapon solely for a certain augment, nowadays you pay way too much in order to get one anyways, so only buy it if you are interested in Hammers mechanics.

3. I have my own thoughts of RGC, I personally detest that alt since it takes away the entire difficulty and skill-level of Magnum, making it rather cheesy to use. But if you want to buy it, who am I to stop you.

4. Shaft is more interesting to use than RGC imo. Give that sniper marksman-rifle some more love ❤️

5. Exp. wise, Hornet and Dictator offer you the chance to get higher amounts of experience for their ODs, just if you were wondering

You have hornet and hammer! tell you what that combo is great with the extra 2 ammo clips augment for hammer.

I like to large caliber rounds augment for railgun. Think it's best.

I think thunder is great with viking or hornet with no extra augments.

Smoky may be good with autocannon but the normal damage is maybe a bit too low.

Depends how you use turrets and your style of play. You like one vs one, just take flag and run, 'camp' behind wall or something?

Personally, I feel like railgun is more of a 'camp' turret. I feel like with the way it functions, people will knock your shots off anyway, even if the reload is quicker. Devasting damage in one shot feels stronger than one mediocre shot and then getting kicked like a doll by ricochet or smoky, etc. Shaft isn't bad with the augment.

I've never got good mk6 combos from shop for crystals. Only got firebird and mammoth mk6 once and something similar. The wait is too long. If it comes, go ahead.

U were saving up for tanki bday right? Go on with ur plans... imo its better than getting one kit and having just 54k left to spend in tanki bday.

do the calculations with which is a profit: your plans or the kit. Remember that the kit also has protection module. Do you need it?

Tbh, mk6 kit at colonel is quite good. Although you could rank up to Brigadier quite soon/ get to higher ranks and maybe there'll be an mk7 kit. ?‍♂️

I use smoky almost exclusively with Viking, sometimes with Titan when a heavy hull is needed e.g. assault defence

My fav turret is Gauss lol but that's only at Mk1 on this acc, I use it on a mini. I have the minus field stabilisation alt for Rico, and no alts on Smoky currently, and no hull alts.

Currently leaning towards the hull alt as it is useful in all situations and very useful in Polygon CP fire fests

umm well in that case smoky is better with incendiary rounds when used with viking or any medium or light hull .autocannon requires a lotta drugs and a heavy hull to be effective .incenidary rounds normally deal about 1500 damage so that is like waay better than normal critical hits .u can get a mk7 rico too .but i think a hull alt would be a better choice and if u have crystals to spare get incendiary rounds for smoky

there's a second suggestion .since u have minus field ,if u get plasmatorch u can use ur ricochet in almost any maps .at short range plasmatorch is mad and u can alternate between alts in different maps basically giving u an omnipotent turret
