Amateur Writing Tournament: Edition One [Complete] Standings

Perhaps things have changed while you were gone. We've addressed a few problems, got our butts in gear, and most of all the members of the AWC are playing an active role in the running of this, as you might have noticed from the comments section of this post.

You could participate in it yourself, and see how it goes, eh?

I am a person with high expectations. Failure to meet them makes me get triggered and it never ends good for anyone. So I'll pass.

Plus the rewards aren't that great for something that's not even worth trying. Salty to say, but with past experience, I doubt your ability to do this weekly thing, Twee.

The AWC is the main reason my English has begun improving actually. Compared to a few months ago, my marks scored in exams is better.

If it's lately, it began already, so it's been improving. Changed is to are, since "is" is used in singular terms, as to where "are" is used for pluralization.

If you were to be really picky, them you would say change "has begun" to "began", as it is arguably the wrong tense (recent perfect vs. perfect).

:P

I just sent my paragraph to Tweezers :) I hope it is not too late.

EDIT: I made a mistake and sent a little paragraph first, but now it meets all requirements and sent it fully correct to Tweezers and Blackdrakon30.

Eh, well, I won't try to push you into it. Just keep an eye on the topic and see what happens.

I will give this week some effort. Let's see, no using the forbidden letter. Doesn't seem too difficult, since I possess god-like writing skills. However, there will be some words which won't be simple to substitute for other words with like definitions. Still no forbidden letter. A.

FAQ

-No, you cannot substitute the number "4" for the letter "a".

-No, you cannot use the letter "a" on it's own to write things like "There is a tree over there." Use something like "There is some sort of tree over there", instead.

-No, you cannot shorten words with "a" in them by simply taking them out. These will not be considered valid.

You should probably also mention that using a's with diacritics are forbidden (presuming they are).

On a more relevant note, I liked the concept of this "Tournament" but I have to say that I don't really think these sort of things really show the literary skills from aspiring Reporters, frankly. I liked the monthly themed contests but this one seems like more of a Newspaper Contest. Anyways, good luck with this, hope it runs smoothly. :)

I mean, one could certainly argue that it helps boost people's writing ability when it comes to thinking out of the box and writing creatively. But yes, it was mainly supposed to be a smol, fun thing, and anyway, this is the first time anything like this has happened iirc. Who knows, maybe it will evolve into something else...

Opinion noted, and I did have a few slightly different ideas that you might like more for upcoming weeks :D
