These are the players who have voiced the strongest opposition to this new update....no more post counts in Forum Games. It has been asked why post counts in Forum Games is so important to you. None of you have even ventured to answer that question. Some are so upset about it, they have threatened to never come back to the forums. 

 

I don't understand, other players don't understand why you are so devastated. Forums Games is not closing down and I'm sure it won't close down because of your inactivity. 

 

Again, I'm calling out the above mentioned players to explain yourselves. Others may contribute, too, if you have a clear and concise reason why the Forum Games update is so unfair.

Are we devasted? No. We play for fun, but at the same time, increase our post count. You don't understand, cos you're not a troll.

Just to clarify, I am not leaving only because of this update. I have a lot on my mind now in real life and I just won't have the time to be on the forum much if at all really. In addition, this update does not solve the problem with forum games, which is that there are so many counting games you can and many do spam. I suggest that instead of this update, we just use our minds more and post on the more creative topics. If you see mutant.sheep online, that is me. I will still lurk around for as long as possible (till I can't because of the work load). I will return in the summer. If you see dan_the_bestest online, that is my best friend. If you wish to talk with me, talk to him. He will relay to me. That being said, yes I am leaving for real. You guys have been the best. I will truly miss you all. I don't like having to do this but life is life.

People who agree with the update feel forum games is 'cheating their post count' but even if this experiment does continue players who want a high post count will just find another way to 'cheat the system'. This will probably just lead to pointless posting in random topics.

Please, someone explain, why is there so much fuss about this?  Surely you'd judge someone on the quality and content of their posts, rather than the number of posts they've made? Why does post count matter so much to people?

Noone has answered me yet. Where does the prestige come in having a high post count? I, myself couldnt care less about post count and im sure many others dont either. I mean, having a high number of posts makes me think youre a spammer more than anything else, which makes me value your opinion on the forum less since it seems to me like you dont care about what youre saying, you just say it cause you can. That sort of stuff is best left to off-topic discussion, but even there, there is some thoughtful discussion. Forum games, on the other hand, started off as a good idea, but was turned into an increase-your-post-count-so-you-get-reputation-on-the-forum machine. 

 

As lukey said, the spammers will always find a way to exploit the post count system. What we need to do as a community is not to give reputation to people based on the number of their posts, but the quality of their posts. Otherwise, this problem will never go away

As far as the list goes, I was listing those who had the strongest objection to this update. I don't know who uses the Forum Games and who don't, except for those who make it public knowledge. As for using Forum Games post counts for reputation: The only reputation that shows is the reputation you have for playing Forum Games, not for helping anyone, giving constructive advice, nor helping the Community in general. The Forum Games is still there, you can still use it and you can still troll, if that's your desire. Nothing has changed, except the count. 

 

IMHO, the only reason for post counts in the Forum Games is to increase your total count without earning it. You want reputation? How about having a reputation of being "The Go-To-Person" if you need advice about the game (and I don't mean Forum Games), strategy. How about this reputation, instead: A Newbie needs advice and someone says, "Look up @TSY_the_crazy, he's a bit crazy, but you can trust his advice. He knows the ins and outs of the game and is very knowledgeable. He won't steer you wrong."
