Tanki Awards 2017 Winners

Normally an award announcement follows congratulations and gratitude exchange.

If forum members wanted other awards to be handed out, proper methods should have been taken initially.

From what I saw, I doubt they'd be able to add awards or candidates to the lists. Because as soon as the awards list went live it already had hundreds of votes which would make it difficult to change the voting list.

Also, adding awards isn't the issue, it's the absolute fact that a tuber will win any free vote award like the best player award. This is all well and good if the aim of these awards is to encourage more youtubers and makes anyone that wants a nomination into any category behave for the 6 months up to the awards in order to get nominated...quite clever really...the flipside is that the award loses credibility, and worse still, this whole award thing just looks like a clique.

If the awards were designed to be credible you'd obviously look no further than a mix of esports players and high level legends as nominees so we can all make our own judgement based on tournaments and profiles.

Something like that, yes. For me, Best Players aren't just those who are famous in certain Tanki circles - they should be role models, both in actions and their behaviour, they are the ones who spread positive influence through their involvement within the community. As Sergei already clarified more than once, no one with recent history of abuse and rule breaking would be picked so it really doesn't matter how well known you are nor what your K/D is - but what your work within the community brings.

guys I agree

the u-tubers will always win due to the fact they set a good role model for tanki and it gives them advertisement to promote the company .. in other words money talks more then a player who has a good reputation / helping players and just be there for most players and is seen in chats dealing with issues daily..

Since when has a Youtuber ever set a good role model for Tanki?

that would be a interesting answer if I knew. I got this info way back when Mr Debono was here as a cm . still wondering about it.

to me all players should be treated egual / fair . contest like this don't favor in so many factors and should not be allowed due to now its going to provoke others. I understand for tanki staff and then even this should be done on work ethics and not likes / friends voting. to me its comes down to who helps who and the satisfaction u get from helping others .

A friend of mine used to play darts for fun. He wasn't that bad at it, and we shared a group of buddies who were decent in whatever we did, mainly because we did those things for fun and only fun. One day, another buddy of mine, not too good at darts, challenged him to a countdown match from a random number. 49 was picked, and away they went. My first friendo dropped his score very easily, and soon he was at one. My other friend wasn't doing too good, and was at maybe 25 iirc. Friend number one throws his next dart, and it lands squarely on the one. Easy game.

Except it wasn't, because friend number two throws his dart, and it knocks off friend number one's dart. The game goes on. Friend number one comes close to hitting that one point many, many times, but just can't stick it. At one point, he landed a dart square on the dividing line between one and two points, but his dart was just this much closer to the two than the one. Then another time, he landed two of his three darts right below the board. A hair's breadth away from that mystical one point. Yet another dart hits the one point fair and suare, but wasn't thrown hard enough, and it bounces off the board to hit the floor, as useless as the other countless throws before. His concentration intensified, but friend two was getting closer. He had now caught up, and only needed two points to win. One and two.

Friend two lands a shot on the dividing line between two and three. As in perfectly in between. No edge to be seen, it's just there. A 50% chance between winning and losing a turnaround. I got some other pals of mine, we held the board up to the light, but in vain - nobody could really tell if it was a 3-pointer or a 2-pointer shot. A vote was made, and to friend one's relief, it's called as a three.

Well, his relief is short lived, because on his next turn, he lands all three of his darts onto the one-pointer...only to have each one bounce off. His luck is abysmal on that day it seems. Friend two's turn. One dart finds itself buried in the ceiling. His second attacks some fake flowers on the wall.

And the third one hits its mark straight and true, right on the 2-pointer. And to add insult and injury to even more insult and injury, friend two offers friend one a redemption match, who accepts reluctantly. Friend one's powering his darts with sheer rage and desperation at this point, I'm sure. He hits a nine, a six, and a five. Knocked twenty points off his score on the first turn, but friend two's first dart hits the bullseye and takes out all of his points in one fell swoop. We later went and looked up the Thesaurus for synonyms for "humiliation" and "defeat". Friend one is a really chill person overall, and he doesn't take long to recover his years of lost pride. He then starts joking around like his usual self, but I can never forget those two matches, even if I wasn't participating in them. It physically, mentally, and possibly spiritually hurt to witness friend one struggle so hard to hit that one point. Just one. I thought I would never see a moment garnering that sort of agony, frustration, and humiliation ever again, because even if it was just a casual game, it was just downright depressing to think about what friend one must have been going through.

Well, I found something to beat those two fateful dart games, because the amount of salt in this thread alone is unbelievable.

the average player doesn't usually take into account whether the person they are voting for is "A good role model in both actions and behaviour".

Clearly, but that can be a goal the Administration will try to achieve in 2018 - to focus on individuals and groups, no matter if they are players or helpers that clearly show devotion to this community through their actions (not focusing only on self-promotion) and display pristine behaviour (which is a big factor in achieving good vibes and overall positive atmosphere in the game) - and motivate them even further! As a matter of fact, If we are to make EN community the best in the game, we should all stand behind such efforts and support them. That way players are going to have clear role modes they can stand behind and cheer and vote for, while violators and offenders are going to have tough time with such competition ;)

Seriously though, I would much rather have... a thousand people who vote for me...

1000 voters > 100 voters, however good the 100 are.

Spoken like a true politician :D But since this is an online game and not a real world and quality does make a difference, abusers and rule breakers wouldn't get the awards no matter how many players voted for them. The Administration of this community set some standards months ago and I hope we'll follow them through in 2018 (see my reasoning above).

Wonder which youtuber will behave well enough to win best player next time.

We will change how the best player is voted for next year, but clear history of bans and karma will always remain as requirement.

Best players for any category are the role models, the most skilled, the most known, the most helpful, and always good :)

So I was told I was originally first best writer? Do I still get rewards...or no? idc I logged in last night and I had 100k more cry than last time I logged in and some containers.

Why was I replaced to begin with if what I heard is true? That's a bit unfair. A LOT unfair.

Like said, they want to promote and exhort players who are clean and good role models.

Unfortunately, though your writing is good, you don't have a particularly clean karma.

You were among the winners, correct. Considering extremely negative behaviour on the Forum, it was unfair to other writers.

Good to know. Anyway, I'd just like to point out this whole award thing is a great idea. Just needs a few minor tweaks to give others a fair shot.
