Hello again, forumer, and welcome to the Amateur Writing Section's latest writing contest: The Amateur Writing Tournament!

What is it, you say? Well, here's a handy guide to get you started.

The way it works is as follows; each week, we will provide a different challenge, or topic, for you writers to write about. In the case of a challenge, you must write an article of a specified length, within the conditions given. This will range from things like the kinds of words allowed to including a specific word in every sentence of the article.

We aim to provide a new challenge or topic every week, and each week, the three best entries will be rewarded with points, and the best one will receive a crystal reward. Amateur Writing Club members will have their points added to the Amateur Writing League standings, and will be eligible for the rewards granted by ranking up within the League. At the end of the series of challenges, the writers with the highest amount of total points will be rewarded with crystals, regardless of whether they are AWC members or not.

To remove the need of asking how you are to submit your entries, I'll tell you right now. You can send a PM to me,@Destrod . It would be easier if you titled your PM with a suitable name such as "AW Tournament Entry", so that I don't accidentally ignore it.

Deadline of entry submissions is 30th of January.

The player with the 1st place entry will receive 10,000 crystals. Prizes will vary according to difficulty of each challenge.
The challenges will rise in difficulty each week, but the rewards will also be boosted to make it worth your while.

This contest is open to ALL forum members, but only Amateur Writing Club members will have their points added to the AWC League.

If you have any questions that need to be answered, reply down here in the comments and we'll get them sorted out quickly!
Special thanks to @tweezers, who started the tournament after taking out time from his busy schedule. I am glad to be continuing it.

This topic will be updated each week with each new challenge and current standings, so check back on it for progress reports!

Challenge One: "No Double or Nothing" [Completed, Results released']

Write us a paragraph on any suitable topic. Your only limitation is; you can't use the same word twice. Don't panic or start screaming, as you might've guessed, pronouns, prepositions, helping verbs, verbs, and all sorts of repeatable, vague in meaning words that re-occur are NOT applied here.

The paragraph should be at least 100-200 words in length, minor adjustments of + or - 5 words is possible, but will deeply impact your chances of winning. Good luck to you all!

Challenge One Results:

1st Place- Kaisdf

2nd Place- BloodWolf

3rd Place- Darthvadermaximum

4th Place- GrandExecutioner

5th Place- H_A_Z_A_R_D

Challenge Two: "Quest for Truth" {Completed, Results released]

Sometimes in life, one must look deeper into something which appears simple, but is infinitely complex in reality. This challenge is all about disguise, so the limitations are as follows:

Write a piece of text. Simple! But there's more. You must use your inventive and intuitive skills to hide a sentence we will give you in plain sight. You must submit your entry in the form of any piece of text, in which the following sentence has been hidden

                                                             "Tweezers is a noob reporter"

You must give a solution, underneath the piece of text that you submit. A solution to find the sentence that you have hidden in your original entry.  Remember, we will judge the entry on the basis of ingenuity, the better the disguise, the better the solution and thus increases your chances of getting more points.

Twee's thing died out quick just as I suspected. Now we got a new noob running the show, who I doubt will last long at all, just like the fallen tanker before him.

RIP Twee.

Thanks for the vote of confidence I guess. Of course, I'm not like twee, and might even never be, but I've got my own bag of tricks. How about you prove yourself right by putting together a piece we would enjoy reading? After all, we're all here for you guys, and your love for writing.

Less of the negativity.

Why are you trampling someone down without having actually seen anything of them yet? Give him a chance to prove himself. Do you actually want acclamation for your works or not?

Be positive. Des is a capable man.

My "thing" did not die out, it merely ran for the amount of time allocated to it and then ended, as was announced along with the final results. I decided based on that experience that I did not have the time to run it smoothly and as envisioned, so I handed over the controls to @Destrod so that the AW will continue to have a writing Tournament. I believe that he and the rest of the team are capable of running this show themselves, so please withhold your insults and comments and give them a chance to prove themselves.

Tbh this stuff remains lame until you stop limiting the writer. Let us be wide enough. For me, I want the imagination to be my limit and nothing less than that.

Right, this AWS Has to be more active. There has not been a single new article out within the last week. Come on -_-

People are busy at Christmas, simple as that ;)

That is very true. Writing requires imagination and freedom, but the best way to test someone's writing experience is to challenge him from various different perspectives, different angles; Writing cannot be handed to you on a silver platter, you'll need to cope with various situations in which your imagination won't prove very efficient. Like combat, the only way to become the best is to be able to expect and counter anything that comes at you.
