Yes! I was surprised they played old anthem. But from a musical standpoint, it still sounds like the masterpiece it always was. 

Spain did not score any goal in regulation time. It was off the back ankle of a Russian player. Both of today's games went to penalty kicks. I was glad Croatia won because their player had 3 guys beat (including the goalie) but an intentional trip was commited. Clear path to the goal.

holy crap... I love that anthem, when i started learning russian (for tanki) i asked my real life ukranian friend to teach me a little. first thing i asked her to teach me was that song :wub: . because it's easier to remember stuff with a melody. 

 

only after i learned other soviet songs like katyusha, accordion, the 3 tankmen, etc.. then i started learning folk songs.

 

I really wish Putin could unite the world under the Soviet Union so i can listen to that song wherever i go.

Put it on your phone or iPod (if you have one). I listen to it on my way to work on winter mornings. Best when it is overcast with some remnant snow on the ground.

All but one of the elimination games were highly enjoyable and well played.

 

They need to get "injured" players off the field. The Mexican coach stated it best: "This is supposed to be a man's game..." I wouldn't mind if they implemented an injury protocol to protect the player. Take the player out of the half. I mean, it is to protect the player and team's best interest. And to also use replay to check if there was contact on the foul. If there wasn't any, then give the yellow card to the "acting injured" player. This overacting nonsense has to stop.
