Nostalgia Setting in Options

Recommended Posts

By clicking this setting in Options (should be unlocked at around Marshal+), these visuals will revert back to:

1. Supply icons will be reverted to the pre-Smart Cooldowns icons. So the wrench will be changed to the red cross, the double power arrow changed to the nuclear symbol, etc.

2. Railgun will be a straight laser.

3. Isida will be a zappy gun again.

4. The green loading bar will turn into that bullet loading bar again.

5. The flags will be changed back to the 2014 styled flags.

6. Gold Boxes will now just be the 2014 orange crate version.

7. Irbis will now be the original preferred oreo version.

8. In-Love will turn into First Love.

9. The new garage will turn into the older cramped up garage of 2014.

10. theFiringHand or Cedric Debono's account username will be changed to SemyonKirov or maybe even almighty_01.

11. You will receive Daily Gifts when logging in instead of having Daily Missions (may be removed from list)

12. The old friends tab (the better one) will replace the current one. Now you can access the requests you sent and search for players within your list.

13. The garage stats will revert back to the pre-2016 rebalance garage stats. So basically, all hulls will have 10 times less health and all turrets will have 10 times less damage.

14. That old rating bar (the one with the red and green up/down arrows that determine if you've gained or decreased rating) will replace GS on your EXP bar.

Declined

The number of players who would want this feature is very low. It's a lot of work for devs and almost negligible benefit for the game. I can tell you right away that it will be used by maybe a thousand players total, while the rest might try it for 5 minutes, shrug and switch back to normal settings. It's just not worth the time.

You call the bullet loading screen nostalgic?

Exactly. They might keep adding "legacy" items, but there is no way it will be just a single tick in the settings that instantly gives it all to you.

To be honest, the devs probably have saved the old game files somewhere and they could just copy and paste the code in, but I'm not sure.

A thousand players is about 50% of the entire active playerbase right now, and it is probably the total of all Marshal+ active players in the game.

And that loading screen? How is that nostalgic? It looks like something taken from the future... a loading bar that fully loads hasn't been developed yet!

You are way off. With 20k players being online at the same time the number of total active accounts is probably over 500k. One thousand is just 0.2% of that.

You know better than this Maf. What's your definition of active account though?

While you're at it, what happened to my idea concerning RGB? It's nowhere to be found and I suggest that one before this one.

Active account = person who logs in and plays a battle at least once a month.

Your idea is still pending. Will be published soon.

Oh ok. I was thinking of the player who battles at least 3 days in a week.

Looks like a bunch of peas moving in a line, could of been used as a loading screen for a game concerned with gardens and stuff..

They weren't moving, they were lighting up one by one. So I think they're meant to be LEDs.

Oh I see now, then that is pretty cool indeed. We need something like that now because this green bar is really boring lol

Nah, the green bar is best of the three. The green dots thing was horribly glitchy and showed no progress whatsoever - it would just flash all over the place and load multiple times. The loading bullet was pretty cool, but it didn't show loading progress. The green bar we have now isn't great for showing actual progress either, but at least it shows when loading is stuck so you know you should reload the page, while the bullet animation just kept going and going and you had no idea if it's stuck or just taking a while.

I honestly think that there are like 50k-70 players active daily by logging in and like a few hundred thousand inactive. You'll probably say that I'm wrong, but I'd like to see proof that there are so many active players since this game doesn't look so alive compared to 2014.

Hmm, I wouldn't call a player that logins in once a month active. Pretty inactive, but not fully 'dead' yet.

Not sure what you mean by "inactive", because if we simply count accounts which do exist but haven't been used for, say, over 6 months, then the count is way past 20 million. In 2012 there were already 10 million accounts. As for the active players - there's no way we can know for sure, but around 50-100k active daily seems like a reasonable guess.
