Hello tankers and all the writers.

We have a tradition to post the best works of the year from the Amateur Writting Section and last year, we had the pleasure to read a huge number of really great content of different genres. We are sorry it took longer than usual to make this list, but the life did not slow down for any of us. In the end, it's never too late to recognize the best works.

Just like past years, we would like to award these writers a motivational bonus for their great contribution. Each author will receive 50 000 crystals. This bonus does not stack up with multiple entries on the list.

With that being said, we present you the best of the Amateur Writing Section 2018.

Stories

Molly's - Chapter 19

by @Hippin_in_Hawaii

Our Review: A masterwork in first person narrative, Molly's takes you deep into the mind of it's protagonist and his experiences in Molly's tank construction yard. Chapter 19 is the best example of this, featuring gripping suspense and providing an excellent example of writing that forces you to identify with the narrator.

The Story Behind the Map: Deathtrack

by @TheTankBuster2

Our Review: A beautiful piece providing a fantastic background to one of the more rarely used, but well-known maps in the Tanki battlegrounds. It is a rather chilling story with a perfect heart-wrenching conclusion. The description is also perfectly complemented with photos of the map sprinkled throughout.

The Blue Sphere Series

by @Merovingian

Our Review: Blue Sphere is an ongoing series about the strange and groundbreaking project that is being protected by its creator from people who would like to misuse it. The protagonists have to decipher the clues and face many obstacles to unveil the mystery. Each chapter nicely uncovers the plot.

The Medic - Fatigue

by @GrandExecutioner

Our Review: An example of very good story-telling. The Medic is a story with very dramatic turn of events and it is definitely worth following through other chapters as well since the plot nicely develops and graduates with every new chapter.

Come Alive

by @tweezers

Our Review: Good writing describes everything, giving a crisp and clear idea of the characters, the scene, the emotions. Excellent writing describes little, leaving the reader to conjure up their own ideas. You are left to have as much freedom as the writer in the way the story flows. Couple this with a quirky, spaced out style, and you are left with a true exhibition of an excellent short story.

A Twisted Twist, Part 1 (Untreated, Ch.3)

by @Person_Random

Our Review: Among the many story writers who make up the AWS, few have a way with words that enables them to take something completely ordinary and turn it into an entertaining read, which is what @Person_Random has managed to do with this article. The story itself recounts the tale of a person going to an academy alongside a rival. The plot is great to say the least, but the amazing presentation and wording of the story more than warrant a read of this amazing tale.

Stars

by @P.4.R.K.O.U.R

Our Review: A roller coaster of emotion, from a touching scene of a young boy explaining constellations to his little sister quickly escalating to the two split by war. There are thought-provoking undertones laced through about why we go to war, and the effects it can have on others, which have the effect of making it a powerful piece (some might even say stellar...)

An Attempt on Her Life

by @thethiefofvictory

Our Review: Since the beginning of the year, a great many stories have been brought to the fray by the pens of writers such as @thethiefofvictory. After little deliberation, it felt quite clear that this article was among the author's best. Packed with tons of vivid details, well-phrased conversations and a simple but somewhat intriguing plot, this story is sure to tingle your taste buds with a delightful style. The cherry on top is the albeit mysterious cliffhanger, which will leave you waiting for the second edition.

The Days of Fear (Part 5)

by @pythor20000

Our Review: The Days of Fear has been an absolutely killer series, successfully pulling off a Tanki-related fiction where many fail. @pythor20000 has really treated us with part 5, showing off his high level of accuracy, as well as a lovely style and flow. The content also holds up, with some delightful twists and fantastic character development.

Guides

The Ins and Outs of Aleksandrovsk: Capture The Flag

by @You.Have.to.die

Our Review: A very throughout, well-written and illustrated guide. Although, some of the pictures have been lost over the time, the guide covers a huge chunk of gameplay on Aleksandrovsk, from the bases to mining, to using the environment and supplies and much more.

Reviews

New Paints: Reviewed

by @Chillax

Our Review: It is always a pleasure to read a well-written, good-looking and superbly formatted review. Chillax has proved that he easily excels in this. He subjectively reviews and marks some of the older paints that were added in the containers at the time, and judges the looks and originality of each design. It will sure come in handy for those who cannot make up their mind whether or not to wear one of those paints.

Interviews

Personalities of Yesterday: Night-Sisters

by @Magenta

Our Review: Magenta is an established writer who can excel in pretty much every genre. However, we chose to include his hilarious interview of the one and only NS, our former Newspaper administrator, simply because it stands out so much in this category. In the end, this article is the sole contender for the title of best interview. #BlameTheNS

Humour

How to Insult Properly

by @mydoom.exe

Our Review: Now, before you jump to the conclusion that we or the author somehow support this prohibited activity in any way, I have to tell you that this writing piece is nothing like that. This article proves that even such serious themes as these can be turned into a creative, hilarious and funny article. We appplaud the author for his creativity.

The Leaky Mult #3 - St. Valentine's Day 2018

by @Merovingian@mydoom.exe and @GrandExecutioner

Our Review: The Leaky Mult placed in our Best of the AWS list last year, and this year it follows suit. These three authors and namely Merovingian (who we suspect organizes the article) have well established themselves as capable humorists. We definitely advise you to dig into this "love day" special despite the fact Valentine's day is long gone.

Tomorrow

by @C.O.N.Q.U.E.R.O.R

Our Review: It's pretty unconventional to put a story in the humor section of this article, but the sheer quality of the plot twist in an article that you would expect to be Halloween-spooky is priceless. This story won't make you laugh after each sentence, rather it will put you in the Halloween mood and then surprise you with a cringe.

Other

Dreams

by @Jade

Our Review: A beautiful philosophical piece that explores (unsurprisingly) dreams, and also emotions. It has a clear format, starting with a series of questions, before explaining and then answering them as far as Jade feels he can - there seems to be an invitation (a challenge, if you will) to the reader on what their opinion is. Emotion is a deep and complex topic that has flummoxed psychologists for centuries. Jade, however, manages to cover them in a simple and succinct manner, that provokes thought and reaction, going into enough detail to be interesting, but not so much as to be tiresome. Perfect.

Why Do We Fall?

by @Destrod

Our Review: A deep philosophical piece that comes from the pen of experienced writer also attempts to tackle on emotions, but branches more into the topic in a humorous manner. Using both a penny and a bottle of Chateau Oberi Vintage 90 as catalysts, he decides that whether we really make our own choices is irrelevant; what matters is that you understand them.

Congratulations and thank you for your work and contributions to the Amateur Writing Section.

I do not consider it as something that is needed. The best writers and contributors have been recognized here and in the HOTY topic.

At this point, I want to know if there will be such a topic this year. You can't call it 2019 in the middle of May!
