Not looking forward to html5.  Guessing that will rule out Firefox for me as it uses Flash, and Chrome don't work too well.

Could be losing a few more of us with this...

Why not try the Client?

Internet explorer is  hilariously slow. Why do people still use that in 2019?

Not their fault, Flash will be closing down soon. (not sure of the date). But html5 is better as they said in the video.

I wish I could rely on it. I have IE8 and most of the time I can't get it to connect, even though the Firefox and Chrome I also have installed manage to connect happily to the internet.

It's not about apportioning blame, more about concerns some of us may "disappear" because the available mediums may not physically work.

HTML5 is well supported by every browser, even better support than flash, take a look at the link below.

https://www.educba.com/html5-vs-flash/

From the link you provided:

The latest version of browsers such as Apple Safari, Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, and Opera all support many HTML5 features.

That's an important word.... latest.

Which doesn't mean it -will- work if you are using Windows XP or the last available Firefox for WinXP (50.1.0) which is what I got.

Those of us using older Operating Systems (and the older browser versions they require) may well find ourselves locked out of the game when Tanki goes html5 unless we buy a new computer with a newer OS that will accept the "latest" browsers.

Meaning, html5 isn't good news for everyone.

Thanks Shirley. <_<

HTML5 may well work on xp, but that depends on the browser and which variant.

I did find a link to a workaround which demonstrates HTML5 doesn't work natively on Firefox http://wp.xin.at/archives/4059 else you wouldn't need a workaround.

Not only is that specifically about getting H264 videos to play in HTML5 on xp (not getting HTML5 working), but the workaround could easily leave one with a very unwell Firefox.

Would the Client be a better option than relying on a browser for HTML5?

While we get issues with the dying Flash and the unknown likely issues with the implementation of new HTML5 version I think everyone that has a computer should at least try installing the Client to see if it works for them, so when the issues come they know.

Install Bhodi Linux and install Chromenum/Firefox on it. Bhodi is SUPER lightweight and should work fine with old XP systems.

Please show us a good overview on how the new HTML5 interface will look like. I want to see it. Please also show us more information about the Hover Hull. Explain exactly what the hole in the Hover hull does and how it works with the game mechanics.
