How does one gain reputation?

 Share

Question

I would like to know what the reputation stat in everyone’s forum account does, how to increase it, and why the number varies a lot.  I noticed that some people have specific numbers like 3.1648, while I have 28.

Thanks in advance.

Hello, reputation can be gained by getting likes on posts and topics. For example, before I gave you a like for your question, your rep was 28, as soon as I liked it, it increased to 29. So one like equals +1 reputation.

Thanks.  I still have a few questions though.  Why do you have 1.485? Is there a “k” behind it, like 1.485k likes?

What about laughing or crying reactions, or negative reputations?

I did a test now and found that confused and sad reactions counts as neutral. Negative reputation came from the old forum where you could dislike a post. Now you can't do so.
My reputation is 1 486. Means I got 1 486 positive feedback.

In many notations, 1,485 is written as 1.485 and decimals like 10.5 are written as 10,5.
