COVID-19 Discussion

After nearly a year off of the forum, I finally came back and found this in my private messages:

 

"Hi there;

Maybe you are off from school;

Since the virus is not really cool.

Please take care to stay active and not bored;

Since when you add to the chat, I will be floored."

Well, why not? And this was the start of our second poetic chat:

 

"Oh, sorry, I've been taking a break,

I couldn't come on since the forum remake.

Sorry to keep you waiting,

But it's nice to see you're still updating.

It's been pretty dull these days,

Time just flies by in a haze.

2020 is definitely not the best year,

Everyday just brings more fear:

"Will I get infected, too?"

But some say it's just a bad flu.

So, how are you in the middle of all of this,

Staying healthy or are you dragged into the abyss?"

 

"It really is nice to see you around;

I was afraid your account by a hacker was found.

COVID-19 seems to be a popular topic;

So I think to this message we shall stick.

Whether or not this is constantly on your mind;

I must give you all a friendly remind.

Someday all of this will be put behind;

But we need to work together to get through this grind.

While you sit there piling up wins;

Make sure to follow all safety precautions.

I didn't plan on saying this, not one bit;

But I feel it would help learn a lesson from it.

I wish you all the best of health;

Don't catch the virus like I did myself."

 

"It was more of I lacked the time,

Because school was such a rapid climb.

Teachers thought we could multi-task to the extreme,

And that's where a 'chill' year turned to be a distant dream.

But with the outbreak, school's out,

Little did we know, that was only the sprout.

What was once a joke is now a harsh reality,

Why did we laugh about a potential fatality?

If we're going to forget this, it's easier said than done,

We don't know if its only just begun.

So, Chat Box, what happened to you?

Are you sure you can make it through?"

 

"This virus must be really stealthy;

If I caught it despite being healthy.

Being that I am only a teen;

The symptoms I experienced weren't too mean.

But don't think of this virus as benign;

For elderly people it won't be fine.

The day my fever was first detected;

A two week isolation I started.

I only did it since to my doctor I listen.

It turned out it was no extra precaution.

I got tested early for my county.

Now they ration tests for older people strictly.

You don't want to put anyone on a respirator.

No one wants to find out they are an accidental murderer.

So stay at home and stop the spread.

If you are sick stay in bed.

Cyber, has the virus avoided your region;

Or did it take it by a spin?"

 

"Oh, then, I'm glad you're okay,

For a second I thought you'd pass away.

I personally haven't been infected yet,

But if I do, it'll surely be a huge regret.

Sometimes I wonder if this is the end,

The last year on this world we'll spend.

Dark thoughts aside, don't forget,

That this virus is just a slight offset.

If you're bored at home, then try to stay active; be in your prime,

Or read a book, something to pass the time.

Just whatever you do, don't go near others,

For the sake of you not infecting your brothers.

As a surviving case, is there anything we should know,

Any tips on how to survive the blow?"

It really is something I need to mention.

If you are sick, your immune system is put up to the test.

So help it out, by drinking adequate fluids and getting rest.

You want to try to keep your mind off your plight.

I suggest reading a book, or if you want you may write.

It can be good to do something you have not done in a while;

You may even realize you enjoy a different style.

If you see that you do well with poetry;

As long as you have a good personality:

Awesome! I'm glad to see the return of this series. I was always wondering where this had gone. Though I am no fan of poems in general (as we all know), I really enjoyed the light, conversational tone of this chat. It didn't feel like it was in verse, but rather like an everyday conversation between two people, so if that was the goal of the poem, then you two did it perfectly. It's good to know that you are passing this time by writing an entertaining poem about the situation today. Hopefully the third edition of the Poetic Chat will return soon!

Yeah, I think it comes out better if its more casual.

I don't know how Person_Random was able to publish it in under 5 minutes! That is crazy! How do you do it? Were you waiting for it to drop?

I have no idea

That must have been a record time approval right there... I've never approved anything so fast. Really, I was just on the forum when I got a notif about something in the AWS, and then I went ahead and approved it zip. (No edits might have helped)
