Forum Updates
[July - August]

Following is a list of all the forum-related updates that took place during the months of July and August:

Quick Mention:

This is a small but handy feature that enhances forum user experience. By clicking on the "@" under any users post, you will be able to mention them in your post. This feature makes it easier to tag those members which have long nicknames. Did we mention that it also saves you time?

Additionally, now you are able to tag users who have duplicate accounts due to the forum bug. Previously, it was a difficult choice to choose between Sacrifice and Sacrifice while tagging Sacrifice (YIKEESS!). Now, you can simply overcome that difficulty by using this feature.

Disabled Dual Topic Submission:

One of the most common forum errors include dual submission of topics due to forum gateways. Most of you would be familiar with this error, where when you click "Submit Topic" button more than once by mistake, you end up with multiple topics of the same content. This new feature will prevent this from happening. However, this only works for "topics" and not "posts".

Helpers' Profile Table:

On the right side of the forum page, you will find a table containing profiles of different helpers online. This table shows "Community Management, Administration and Helpers" that are online at the time. This is very useful for quickly being able to contact the relevant helpers in case you need any assistance. This saves you the trouble of going in to the List of Helpers each time you encounter a problem.

Some interesting facts about this table:

  • It does not show candidates that are online.
  • It only shows a maximum of ten helpers at a time ("Helpers Online").
  • It only shows the first listed position of the helpers.
  • It takes longer to update than the "Online Users List".

Mark Message as Unread:

Mark message as unread feature is very convenient when you read a DM and decide that you would like to answer it at a later time of the day. You can simply click on this option and the message will be listed as "unread" in your inbox so you can come back to it later.

Note: The other user would still be able to see the last time you read the message. This feature has no effect for the user who is on the other end of the conversation.

Answer Voters:

Just like you could see the names of users who reacted to your post/topic, you can now see those users who upvoted your answer in the Questions & Answers section. Previously, we didn't have this feature and all the upvotes were anonymous. Click on the option "Answer Voters" and a list of all the users who voted for the answer will be shown.

Some awesome updates!!

I especially liked the "Quick Mention" feature.

Spoiler

"One in every two people is awesome"... hmm. That means those who have duplicate accounts on the Forum are always awesome, eh Sacrifce? : D

Those are 'two' accounts then, not 'two' people. Nice try tho ?

How much did he have to bribe you to say that @Spy ?

Otherwise, I have to say, nice forum updates. However, I feel that the topic is a bit informal at times. Is it possible to fix that?

What do you mean? Shouldn't it be a little bit informal? Or should it necessarily be professional and formal?

I feel the informal tone at times appeals to players and attracts their attention...

What did you have in mind? Do let me know!

Thanks!

Ah yes, of course, the informal does have its own appeal. Just a handful of jokes would be perfect, but I think this example below is a bit too much. I have added some minor commentary here.

I also marked a few grammar fixes in green thanks to the proofreader in me. Hopefully, that helped clarify what I meant. I do like a few jokes, but that "yikes" was a bit too informal in my opinion.

You can also (preferably) quote or multi-quote other players' posts, instead of just 'blandly' tagging them without sufficient context for other users. Use the 'Quote' function when replying to a single post, and 'MultiQuote' when replying to multiple posts simultaneously.

yes, but it does not work. I try to ignore both but it still ignores only one. I think you might need to merge the duplicate account so that other people can ignore that user.

PM me with their username.

As At_Shin said, when we try to ignore a person who has those duplicate accounts, we cannot ignore both. If we try to ignore the 2nd account, it says something like "already added to ignore list". And we can still see the ignored person's posts.
