So this popped up yesterday while I was doing maintenance on my machine.

It's pretty clear, no need to explain.  The question is why and who else has had this happen to them.?

BTW, I posted this in general questions and it was taken down with a haste I've never seen before.

It wasn't taken down (i.e hidden), I just closed the topic because nobody but the Tech Support can give you a proper answer.

Every time I click the ingame link to a V-log in the forum, my security software tells me it prevented an attempt to access my laptop camera. I like to imagine that my superior gameplay makes developers in Perm wish to watch me in action. Though access to my laptop camera is protected by several layers of security, the last one being duct tape.

if this is actually true tanki might get sued for spying on people without knowing it. I hope is not tho. I never got any notification that tanki is trying to access my webcam.

I think this is just a coding mistake by developers as the client is a new and they will solve it in near future.

But if this approved one day, I will say my last word that will terminate my account literally leaving the game forever.

No, but I'm sure it updates itself, it has to, all the physics and what not associated with new hulls means I downloaded in late Oct, early November, and crusader is now in game and I play.  I don' think it notifies us about updates, it just pulls files when it updates libraries and other material.

I don't think desktop app has been updated for a long time. Its just a http client that does almost the same thing as browsers.

I can access the GPU, thus it has to interact with the CPU, thus the OS.

I ran NORTON, Spybot, and Malware Bytes, no "malware" detected, so the signature is confirmed by the author, ie, Alternativa meant to have that code in there.

what did tech support say?

Did you really think I'd waste my time contacting them?

"Hi, I'd like to report that your software is spying on me, here is a screen shot to prove it."

"No sir, there must be an issue with your computer, we don't spy on our customers."

"Are you sure about that?  Not saying that just to cover your rear?"

"No sir, that would be wrong and unethical.  We assure you, whatever it is, IT ISN'T us."

There is no way in a million years they'd ever admit to it.  Face it, it would need to be a bombshell to get it to be resolved.  People need to check their logs and post it all over the place, here, Discord, Youtube, the web, Steam, miniclip, anywhere there is a gaming presence for tanki.

what logs?

They're AV logs.  What I found very telling is that the only way I noticed this was my AV stated it had provided access to my web cam.  I immediately flew into a fury and went in and manually killed all access.  THEN I pulled the log and found the two entries.  I bet most people might not even know they were being watched because they tun off "Permitted" activity notifications.

People need to open their AV logs and search for Tanki.

Thanks for the news. I am playing on Mac and I do not receive notifications like this. This is very concerning.
