Question

Hi guys, I'm just wondering what Mammoth vs Mammoth OD is standing on? It seems like a luck! or what? Or what the strategies I can do to win in this fight?

I see myself always the loser in these fights, I don't remember a once I won in this!

In example in this fight literally everytime I used my OD against this buyer I lost! Even I saved it on my mind that I can't win in this!

Animated GIF

I think there was a more footages than these 3. but the video is too long I can't revise every second in the video to check.

The only times  I beat him was when he haven't used the overdrive which is common sense

Doesn't seem like there's a super clear answer here yet, so I'll try to explain simply all the things that could happen.

Firstly, Mammoth's OD always does 999 damage per tick. No damage reducer of any kind has an effect on mammoth's OD damage, similar to Wasp's Bomb or Ares' Energy Ball.

  • Since Mammoth's max health is 4000 HP (Mk7-19 is only 3976), only a maxed out mammoth can take 4 ticks without dying. If your enemy is maxed and you are not, they will win when you both start at full HP.
    • Mk4-5 has 3000 HP and is the earliest upgrade that can eat 3 ticks without dying.
    • Any Mammoth, even Mk1-0, has at least 2000 HP and can take 2 ticks when at full health.
  • Of course, if you aren't at full HP (even just a few points short) you'll often get killed one tick earlier than normal. If you get hit by a stray bullet or you shoot at close range with a splash damage turret and your enemy doesn't, they'll win.
  • Since Mammoth's OD instantly resets HP, your enemy can activate their OD after you contact them and recover from a couple of ticks. Thus, they reset their HP, and if you took any damage since you started the OD you'll lose, since you already used up your health reset. Try to be the second one to activate your OD.
  • Activating a repair kit during the collision instantly gives 1000hp - conveniently, enough to survive one more tick. If one mammoth uses RK and the other doesn't, the drugger wins.
  • Using the Lifeguard drone will always let you survive one extra tick, and with enough upgrades, 2 or (when maxed) 3 extra.

Spoiler

As a side note, the maximum number of ticks that you could survive without being the Juggernaut, having an Isida healing you, or having the assistance of Mechanic drones is 14, or 3.5 seconds.

  • 4 ticks from 4000hp leaves you with 4 HP
  • 5th tick resets you to 3000 HP thanks to the Lifeguard drone
  • 3000 lets you live 3 more ticks and have 3 HP, total of 8 without supplies
  • Repair kit you use buys you one more tick, 9
  • Repair kit you pick up buys you another tick, 10.
  • Activating Mammoth's OD gives you 4 more ticks, total 14. You'll die on the 15th tick, unless you got help from teammates' Isidas, Vampire Isida, Shaft Healing Emitters, or Mechanic.

Hope this helps, and let me know if there are any more details or other situations you'd like me to explain!

It depends on the health of your tanks, drone equipped and your supplies enabled

If you both have full supplies and his tank is of a higher modification ( mk7- 0 vs mk7 -10)

mk7-10 will win because he has overall more health
Also if the other tanker is using defender drone then you will most likely lose in a 1 on 1 OD battle

For that gauss mamthom, if you look closely, his mamthom is using health kit after activate OD, and you dont use health kit, so he got extra health advantage,

For the striker mamthom case, he is use striker to hit at same time using OD, so he got extra damage advantage than you. (and likely he has striker protection and u dont, so his self damage is less than damage on you)

when OD vs OD, no matter when attack first, since at the time both do OD, both at full health,

you active first, you full health, he activate later, he also become full health, so it is equal at time of OD duel

he active first, he full health, no mater what your health is, you activate later, also full health, so it is also full health vs full health.

===========

it is not instant death for that OD, it is same damage losing,

but
  * if one use health kit, one got extra small part health back

  * if one attacking at same time, one deal extra damage on enemy

  * also double armor counts, which DA depends on drone level (ok, ignore DA seems, ignore titan dome of course)

  * life guard drone helps, mechanic drone give extra initial boost heal

It seems that the other tank is taking three ticks of 999 damage before you get destroyed.  Is the modification level of your Mammoth in between mk4-mk6?   Who knows, I can't really see the other mammoth's drone, but perhaps, the other mammoth is using lifeguard drone?  There are so many possibilities.

Mammoth's Overdrive ignores damage reducers.

The damage per-tick is 999dmg, which is why higher than the difference between Mk7-0 vs mk7-10
