Does Tanki care about non-Russians? Honest question.

Recommended Posts

Today, PhantonMeat posted this topic: http://forum.tankionline.com/posts/list/39302.page about The Race this weekend. His posting was at the exact time the registration opened for this event. 7 minutes later, Pin4er163 posted that the limit of 1000 players has been reached.

On the Russian forum, it is posted here: http://forum.tankionline.com/posts/list/39226.page 19 hours before the registration opened.

Yesterday, Broncos posted about The Race here: http://forum.tankionline.com/posts/list/39227.page asking for info about it. No Mod ever offered information.

We even have a contest section here: http://forum.tankionline.com/forums/show/118.page which never has been used.

So my honest question is, does Tanki care about the non-Russian players? The Race is not an event I would have entered, so I am not asking this question out of bitterness for not being able to participate. I am asking because time and time again, the non-Russian players and forum get neglected for events that the Russian forum participate it. We appear to be treated like step-children (no offense intended; it is just a figure of speech). And as an older adult, I wish to stand-up for the kids on this forum...a registration time of 2000 hours Moscow time guarantees that the vast majority of the non-Russian forum players will be unable to register because they are in school.

So I ask once again, do you really care about us, or just happy that there are buyers among us?

Although I do agree' date=' rarely can you find an English game that supports other countries. So it's all even.[/quote']

This is quite true...and Tanki has come a long, long way. Those who have been here since the beginning of this English forum will agree. Remember how much fun (total sarcasm) we used to have?? But still...to be overlooked this way is just not right.

Tanki does care for foreign users, but it's not the mod's job to translate that information, mods are volunteers who do not work for the company. It's really a job for the community manager, who for some reason neglects this part of the forum. If you feel like the section needs more attention, send emails to the administration, that's the only real way to let them know.

perhaps they would be gracious enough to allow a few more entrants? about 150 to 250 but i doubt it, 1500 was probably due to server load otherwise their are lots of english users world round that would like to participate. i wouldnt but others may.

By the way people are talking about the mods in this section, I have to ask the question: Are all mods russian? This seems like a stupid question, but I just am wondering...

At the very least, I don't usually see American, European, Asian, etc. mods on the forum. why?

I also need to state my thoughts on this one. Yeah...I also feel that the english part of the forum is a little neglected when there's competitions held on the russian side.

But I also can understand this if I look at it in cold blood ). The fact is that the english community is smaller than the russian one, so, in a way it's normal to be like this if you look from a business perspective. It's not quite simple to have a game like this localized in multiple languages.

Take the chinese version for example. The localization and logistic for it must include game interface translation and design issues, programming issues, bug fixing, maybe dedicated servers, targeted support for the players (moods, admins), country related restrictions and traditions (discounts, play time restrictions) and so on.

The time and effort spent on this must be balanced by the number of players who actually play the game. Meaning that it has to be justified. There's no point of doing this for 10 people, isn't it? :)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but let's not forget that this game was in russian only in the beginnings.

Just wondering, how many of you knew that the russian side of the forum has a newspaper section with interviews with developers, players, reports and so on ? :)

It is there that I first found out about 2.0, and man, it was awful with Google translate )

P.S.

All the above are just my opinions. I might be wrong. Feel free to correct me. After all, that's why we are here)

And did you also knew about the video contest to promote Tanki online that took place a few months ago, with a 10 000 crystal prize and an USB flash stick?

By the way my friend Zombik won that )

How about the video contest held around New Year's Eve? How many english players who own a Champion paint you know?

What about the competition held about an year ago or so by the player named aircolor and supported by Alternativa? Btw I think that was the first League of Sandbox if I'm not mistaking.

The examples could go on and on..

My point is that, so far, all the goodies are on the russian side, nothing more.

However, this is not a complain but merely a observation. I see that things are starting to change lately.

P.S.

We finally got a "Contests" section.

:)

contest section..... only a contest section that is never used! I don't want to say things of fairness and favoritsm. but if growing you're game is you're goal then fairness to all players in tanki is expected.

You're funny )... Would you be so kind to describe the term "fairness" to me?

Name one game who has it all and I can came up with about 1000 arguments to prove you wrong )

Do you think players in Iceland have a reason to be upset because the game is not translated in their native language for example ?

(No offence to those players here)

@Pin4er163:

koolwalky I thought was russian. At least he can speak russian. I dunno. You probably know more than I do about this, but I thought he was russian from several of his previous posts. Maybe if he sees this post, he could clarify.

BTW, what about the tons of other mods? you cant be telling me just those three you mentioned are the only non-russians?

simple if we english forum users "not just americans all abroad users who speak english as a second language" have a contest section "fairness" is actually using the contest section. i say if you have red button that says push, it should do something. although i said fairness if they want to grow internationally which if im not mistaken is one of the steps they are taking for the social side of 2.0

No matter what they say, tanki care enough about the non-russian players to make sure that the non-russian players (english players, basically) are catered for: moderators, gameplay, and enough. HOWEVER, like someone else posted, all of the "goodies" are for the russian players: the race, video competition (which i entered), and everything like that. I wouldn't say it is that unfair: it is a russian game, after all. What I would like is tanki just to admit that they don't really care about the english players as much as the russian players.

I thought you were from one of the baltic states dingus? or was that someone else?
