I know this post may not be completely for me, but I wasn't here for arguing about evolution. I just was about to correct the notion that human evolution doesn't contradict with religion (who believe in god).  If I get convinced that human evolution is true, I will simply leave the religion and wont look for any other religion.  I don't care about the obvious distortions, like there are who said speed of the light was mentioned directly in quran (islam's book), even though I read the article and it was just unreal, I believe in speed of the light but ? it wasn't mentioned in quran.

I understand what theorem means, it's common in science like, Theorem: In any triangle, the sum of the three interior angles is 180.  Theorem doesn't mean it's wrong, or not agreed. Inreal it's a proofed theorem.   So I wasn't arguing about the word theorem.  Also I don't believe in flat earth, obviously.  Who argue about word theorem is the same as the one who argue why you said earth is sphere it's in real an oval, you ignorant. Mostly those are flat earthers trying to convince you you don't even understand the concept you believe (spherical earth), while it's in real just a common sense.   Sorry for the length (or if I went far from the topic). and I will read the links you mentioned later.

Apologies for that. I believe @Incorp is arguing purely against evolution.

However I’m not sure why evolution and holy texts such as the Bible and Qur’an and Torah can’t be compatible. Because those books all contain things which are impossible to take literally (talking snakes, flying horses, splitting the moon in half, turning water into wine, etc.). So why is the whole text taken literally then, when only parts of it can?

For example, if there is a god, he could have used evolution to bring humans into existence knowing in advance that they would evolve after billions of years. This idea can agree with both science and religion. The parts in the Bible or Qur’an that talk about creation could be written like poetry, not history, just like Homer’s Odyssey is poetry based on semi-real places and events.

Sorry but  i found it funny lol

I mean i think youre only arguing for there to be a way God and evolution line up. So youre arguing for something you dont even believe in.

Evolution is kinda a faith, just like Christianity. You trust that is how the world began. We Christians trust that God created the world. In the end it all comes down to your faith.

No, that is not correct. As Lambsauce mentioned in the previous post, theory of evolution does not concern the beginning of life on earth.

You can believe the life or the basic elements there of were brought to earth by comets, aliens, divine spark, random chemical reaction of the compounds in the primordial soup, it does not matter, the theory of evolution does not try to describe or explain that.

I’m arguing for it from the standpoint of a religious person, like you, because science and religion don’t necessarily have to be at odds. I may not agree with religion but I think people shouldn’t have to deny science in order to try to justify their beliefs.

You’re misunderstanding. Evolution is an explanation for how life is so varied and different. Faith is a belief in something in spite of the lack of evidence. So evolution doesn’t even qualify as a faith.

Also evolution has nothing to do with how the world or life started. Those are totally different areas of study.

Then give me some evidence of evolution.

Yeah... no. If you cant explain how the world started along with evolution, then evolution doesnt work.

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK230201/

That’s from the American National Academy of Sciences. It’s literally titled “Evidence Supporting Biological Evolution”.

Evolution doesn’t require an explanation for the origin of the world. If a god exists or not, evolution would still be demonstrably true.

World did not start with evolution, it does nothing to do with it.

It is like saying: If you cannot explain how cook a potato with gravitation, then gravitation doesnt work.

Lmao that metaphore was really funny.

See, that is where it goes back to belief. I believe its got everything to do with how the world started, but u dont lol

Well then how did you come to believe in creationism? Surely someone must have told you, either at church or at home.

Well tbh it started a few weeks ago when we first started debating about evolution. I was thinking a whole lot and couldnt focus on my studies lol

Anyways, i was thinking and thinking. Idk how to put it into words, but i was thinking as  evolution wod be considered a force of nature instead of like a machine put into action, it gotta have a way to explain the start of the world, gravity, n stuff. Incidentally i started learning evolution from my home-school program. However it teaches evolution in a Christian perspective, and talked about all the stuff evolution is about and kinda disproving it. So my head was a real mess. Idk if this explanation was clear or not, i am pretty confused rn too lol

Lol well that was purely myself ig. I dont remember when i learned about evolution, but i never believed in it from the start. I really liked reading bsc in the days, so the name of Carl Marx and Charles darwin were names i kinda thought of with contempt. Once i even confused the two lol.

Ok I´ll try to explain it with a simple model.

Let´s assume a hypothetical world.

This world was started by a force X.

Via a force Y a simple lifeform  was created.

Specimens of this lifeform would at first randomly either ignore or avoid fire.

Over a long span time, all living specimens left would strictly be avoiding fire.

The theory of Evolution, in this case, explains, why the creatures evolved to the fire avoiding ones.
It does not represent the force Y nor force X.

Note: This is a major simplification and definitely not perfect, but I hope it illustrates well what the theory of evolution is explaining in our world.

Humans are technically animals, and technology has allowed us to advance civilization into heights we've never imagined. So I guess technology isn't that bad for animals.
