why life >= tanki

in short: from the AWS we started and now to the (now renamed) writers corner we go; i am leave

in serious:

Tanki has been my escape from reality ever since I discovered it, and it grew to be even more so as I gradually got more involved in the game. From middle school where I was fooling around to high school where I was finding myself, Tanki has helped me in so many ways - from visiting the forum and finding a passion in writing to Newspaper and Tanki Fund projects influencing my field of study and giving me leverage in landing my first research position and internship. Ironically, all these opportunities I’ve been able to get through pursuing my interests from the game are also the reasons that it’s time to move on and shift my focus to the future.
I’m more than grateful for the opportunities and experience I’ve been able to have through this game. Nothing compares to working with so many amazing people from all the Helper teams across the world and getting familiar with new ideas and technologies. I’ll really miss it all.
Before I go, a few special shoutouts to a couple of my good friends:
- Fradmin for chatting about tonks and coping about jobs with me - congrats on the big boy job as well!
- 20H12/Dynasty (rip I guess he alr left) for the Competitor Newspaper contest and being one of the best friends one could have in Tanki. I know you left the game as well recently; hope that real life is treating you well.
- natrolite for always being a good friend and finally pushing me to join Events team (rip Events though :\)
- Venerable for always being lighthearted yet grounded - a positive force on every team I’ve worked with him in.
- chinufire1 - a great friend, from star participant in Newspaper contests to a colleague I’ve had a pleasure working alongside in Events and SM.
- emrakul for all the ideas and inspiration behind a lot of the Tanki Fund and minigame projects; I hope that you’ll continue to find interest in future events and tasks.
And, well, this is it. This (almost surely) marks the end of my Tanki journey. See ya!

P.S. If I didn’t shout you out, that means I hate you.

P.P.S. If you got the title reference, then that's truly impressive.

Late 2020... that was when I started actively following the Newspaper and its contests. And you were there. Omnipresent in the Newspaper section.

The level of productivity and activity that you had in the Newspaper was unmatched. And so it came as no surprise when you got promoted to "Newspaper Co-Administrator". I am so glad that I got the opportunity to join the team under two admins whose works and personalities were (and still are) an inspiration to me!

I don't think I can thank you enough for everything that you did for me - from guiding me throughout my candidacy to helping me learn from my mistakes not only during my Newspaper days, but also while working with me in the Social Media team.

You're a great friend whom I can talk to when in need - especially when it comes to coding or ranting about college stuff.
Keep doing all those wonderful things that you have done in your Helper career. There are many others out there who are waiting to be awestruck.

I really don't know what else to say... I'm at a loss for words. All those sweet and sad memories came rushing back while reading your post...
All the best in real life, P_R. Continue being awesome and you will soon be a not random person - I'm sure of it. Take care! <3

P.S. Yes, I got the reference, cuz I wondered if it was a typo. :x Also, your retirement might stop printing_now's printing. :c

That was a good time. I definitely miss the days of reading and writing newspaper articles quite much, and I am grateful I met you through this writing journey. You've provided balance and challenged my ideas well; someone who will provide such detailed and personal critique is few and far between. While we're not discussing the game (and the hot topic of Discord moderation), I hope that this spirit will carry on in future conversation. And since we're headed down similar career paths and areas of study, hopefully someday I'll get to collaborate with you once more - this time in real life.

sorry sir :(  I do not hate you, I promise. And with that, we have arrived at a contradiction, so the original statement is false. *nerd alert sirens*

(and thank you! Does the "prosperous future" package include perhapsibly either a stable job or grad school?)

Maybe if a Tanki Fund pops up I might just activate the script one more time; otherwise I've kind of left pretty much everything about the game behind. It's unfortunate - I really hoped I would be able to stay till the very end, but I'm still grateful to have made peace before my resignation, a privilege that few have had.

Feel free to reach me via Discord (applies to anyone else* as well; my account will likely not be disappearing anytime soon): random#1784

I am beyond honored and grateful for the invite, and beyond that, so glad I got to know you through the AWS. From struggling through writing contests and miscellaneous pieces to conquering our studies at schools across the country, we've come a long way - and even then, the journey has just begun.

And of course - while writing for Newspaper has come to an end a while back, I think you'll be happy to know of some of my current writing work. Stay tuned!

Spoiler

> acomplishments

@kaisdf please come collect your peasant

*ahem* what was I saying? If I'm being honest, the pleasure was all mine - I thoroughly enjoyed discussing contests (and later, SM/uni) with you. Few people have so much dedication and energy and I'm glad to have met a great supporter, (former) colleague, and friend.

Inshallah chinu meetup; now that I'll be gone from the Tanki scene, I gotta make this happen.

I remember, back when I was still inexperienced and clueless as how to write a story, you returning to the writing community. And as I watched you go from a fellow AWS writer, to a Newspaper Writer, to Newspaper Admin, (along with more positions that I am positive I have forgotten some of), my reaction was always one synonymous of "Hell yeah!".

You always had something to critique about my pieces (something I desperately needed (and still do)), and almost every suggestion was spot on. I still think about you telling me to up my sentence starters whenever I write a story.

Your talent and dedication always impressed me, and I'm sure it has and will continue to lead you to success and (hopefully) happiness.

All the best!

As you embark on this new journey and leave your helper position, I wanted to take a moment to express how much you will be missed. Your dedication and hard work over the years have not gone unnoticed and have made a lasting impact on those around you.

While it is difficult to say goodbye, I am grateful for the memories we have shared and the lessons we have learned from each other. I know that wherever life takes you, you will continue to make a difference and touch the lives of those around you.

We wish you all the best in your future endeavors! Farewell, and take care.

Sincerely,

Spy

Being part of the Tanki helper team was a good opportunity and it is good to see that you got something from it.

Good luck buddy for your next part of your journey...
