Because in that case, a user can attach or upload pictures including vulgar and explicit content, which then requires careful moderation of each forum user, which is not feasible.

I'm curious tho, how do other discussion platforms regulate/moderate inappropriate profiles?

there is 0 reason to why they're not allowed.

I think the main (and only?) reason is that old habits die hard. Pretty sure the community leaders want to maintain a "clean" look with nothing more than standardised profile pics. It's been like this for 15+ years, so why change it now?

Well, good point, but then again allowing selfies might make it a more interractive place also, if vulgar pics were put up I'm sure the other forum goers would inform the mods they wouldnt need to do all the work.

It's not about people being able to report such pictures, its about the fact that certain age groups might be exposed to some vulgar and explicit content, at which point once interacted with, the damage is already done despite it being later deleted by mods.

So the solution would be simple.

Avatars would only be available after being approved by moderators!

And why not as everything is always changing in the game with lot of updates?

the kids these days know about these vulgar things probably more than you lol just listen to any small kid group while walking past them.

also if we are worried about that then i'd say there is a little thing that's even worse than seeing some human body parts. I'm talking about a little thing called "Gambling". Everything in this game is gambling at this point and from what I heard it can easily ruin lives for ADULTS and I imagine constant and forced gambling on a developing child's brain is even worse. ?

You are right about kids being exposed to a lot of crap on internet these days, but that does not mean we need to add even more to it. It also creeps me out to think of children posting selfies of themselves on internet?.

As for gambling you are also right, I wish more countries would go the way of Netherlands when they banned loot boxes. Its also quite sad the amount of money children have at their disposal these days.

100% agree, would be so messy with random pics here and there. Rn the forum is pleasant to look at, with nice background color and fitting avatars and all. Nothing would stand out and shout you know? And then the selfies come along with loud white backgrounds and everything.

Plus i would prefer (imo) to keep everyone anonymous so to speak. I mean, there is already a selfie topic in off topic if you really wanted to share yourself, but for general it is  better if it is justvthe avatars we get now. Not looking forward to turn the forum into discord or reddit 2.0

Besides it makes the forum really unique

Ikr??! Worst part is when somone 6 to any age start spamming those stuff irl to try to look old. Idk whats up with children nowadays, they go out and shout it loud and proud hoping they sound grown up, only they sound more like immature little kids. Any age shouldnt be talking about this kind of stuff -.- unfortunately the firdt time i learned about these stuff was from some dirty mouthed primary school kids and the rude awakening came like a smack to the face. Very little children to teenagers with their heads on right nowadays, hard to find someone to befriend yknow

The colleague above explained why you cannot add selfies.
