I thought the game staff can count players by regions based on "Your Location" section on settings. Then why the need of making a vote to decide if you have more accurate way of counting each community? Keep in mind ofcourse that one language can be used by several countries such as Arabic.

Hello,

Just because there is a poll unfortunately does not guarantee the language will be added. Yes the game probably have access to statistics to find out which language is popular, but it costs nothing to make a poll.

Additionally, the topic is not only for this purpose.

False hope is the cost. you should have pointed that clearly beforehand.

I wonder what other purposes this topic is for, because if I'm not mistaken you did not make one before adding Japanese to the game. Implying that you don't need a poll to decide.

It was never mentioned the poll will be the next chosen language. There are plans for specific languages already, but those polls are needed for some specific reasons ?

As for the topic purposes, I invite you to read the first post that summarize everything

I wish they add Arabic language, because there a lot of Arab players, in the other hand Tanki Online is not very popular game in Arab society. If Arabic Language added it will be beneficial for the game and Arab youtubers will make review for the game.

It does not need to be mentioned but it does need to be mentioned if the poll is not the deciding factor here, because most people if not all will understand that the poll will be the deciding factor because that is the normal way of thinking otherwise the poll is useless.

IMO the poll is is there to ascertain if it is worthwhile translating to a particular language, based on how many players use that particular language.

Cash making will of course dictate a lot, it always does.

Sadly nor reasons or purposes of the poll were provided in the topic making it misleading to the community into thinking that the poll will decide what language will be added to the game next, but in reality the poll does not matter and it is for other "some specific reasons".

That plays a role, yes, although it doesn't reflect plans. Perhaps in the future ?

This is how it works in many games, it wouldn't be worth adding a language if it's poorly used.

Both can be counted and calculated accurately by using the database which they do use it to do so. Making a poll is just a very poor way by comparison.

The poll is not meant to replace anything. Additionally, yes, you are right, seeing statistics definitely helps, but getting polls to get opinions about languages to add is also a way of knowing what's needed. In any case, it will not be removed from the topic.

The way it was previously explained is actually well said, it is always good to know how many players would be ready to put the language in such a new translarion, just because there are a lot people speaking the same language does not mean they will necessarily enable it once added. It may sound like a poor idea in your opinion, but it is useful for us. It is not enough to just look on the database and implement based off such statistics because it may not completely reflect the reality.

Moving on, we are starting to be off-topic where this topic is made for feedbacks about the languages added, the Vlog translation feedbacks along with translation mistakes report, not to discuss whether a poll is necessary or not. If you would like to discuss further about this matter, feel free to PM me on the forum, and I would be happy to answer you.

Couldn't you detect on your end using AI translation to sniff out communicative "clunkyness"?

AI isn't perfect. If we take an easy example such as ChatGPT, it doesn't know the Tanki context, it doesn't know what Supercharge is (and a lot more tanki specific words) so in short it would most likely actually make it worse, if it was done ?

Just a note, game translations to my limited knowledge are done by player volunteers, or Helpers.

Unless Helper recruitment standards have changed, getting new trandlators for a desired language is not something you can wish for today and have fulfilled the next day. And even if you manage to get new Helpers to support a language, who knows how long they will stay on the team? Back when I was on the team, Helpers aren't paid real money to work on their tasks. Translation work is not quite as easy as you would suppose, and translators often have to contextualize the terms for the language — just for one example, some languages don't have a direct, simple translation for "turret," so a concise alternative would need to be thought of instead. Lack of motivation for mentally draining work makes many lose interest in their responsibilities very quickly. So assuming that the game translations are properly completed, reviewed, and approved before release, what you get are the products of hours of effort from only the most passionate or disciplined.

Going off a tangent, V-Logs come out on Fridays, meaning most V-Log Translators sacrifice a portion of their weekends to provide you with subtitles to enjoy the video with. Be doubly sure to give them your appreciation.

It is done by a special helper team dedicated for it, yes. You may find the list of Game Translators here.

Theoretically, it's the same for every positions, I'd say even everywhere, when you work somewhere, soon or later, you may lose interest, be it within a month, or 10 years. This isn't specific only to Game Translators. Additionally, adding a new language to the game isn't specifically to increase the number of positions inside the team, it is firstly intended to improve the game's accessibility to attract new players, and have the chance to have the game in their native language, just like the Vlog translators' purpose when translating the Vlog.

Unfortunately such details are not disclosed. However both teams do their best to always provide good quality translations. Additionally, in the future, if you spot a mistake somewhere about supported languages, I invite you to report it here, so it can be treated as soon as possible.
