Tbh i'm not sure if they did delete old accounts. Well old accounts that are in clans are still not deleted, I have many clans where there are people who have been inactive for 2k+ days:

I reckon, if any accounts were deleted, it were ones that were not in any clans, and potentially not linked to any email. But there is little evidence that suggests accounts were actually deleted when they threatened everyone to come back or it would be.

This "event" is just basically inviting alt accounts or those which weren't used over a month to complete those referral missions, instead of actually promoting game for people and invite real people "from the outside" and/or bring back players who last time played it like above 4 years.

And I don't say that's so terrible.

Well, for current players it's actually beneficial, because they can get for free a lot of Rubies and even a Legendary key. Especially since there aren't many options to get Rubies quickly anyway (or in general). Common Containers giving very rarely 100 Rubies, not sure if the Birthday Event Cake gave any Rubies (Has any tanker even seen it at least once? Did it actually give 17 Rubies?).

As stated above, the lobby chat are full of people spamming their referral missions promocodes, hoping anybody gonna actually using it +

I also think that doing such thing 2 years ago was a huge mistake. That just made many tanki veterans abandon Tanki Offline Online forever and never return, even those gifts that depend on how long account existed wouldn't work on many of them (I mean that Special Gifts thingy during Tanki Birthday Event). 

And that's why those "Invite a friend" events prove that advertising the game (a succesful way) must be done from Developers Marketing Team, not just YouTubers and players themselves. How can we know that many new players "from the outside" are actually joining game and staying in it for pretty long time thanks to those "Invite a friend" events?

Creating opportunities for new players or old ones to come into the game, and rewarding them for it, is a great thing, and it should have been thought about since in the 2020s. It's just that the system is starting to get too monotonous. Same rewards and same missions all the time.
And I think some of missions are just looks a bit harder for someone who has never played the game before. Would be better to setting up like tutorial missions or something around that
