It doesn't matter what he wanted to do, what matters most is what the "team" wanted to do. If most of the other team players also agreed on not capturing the flag. Then it would be permissible. But however it is clear that their own team is leaving from this act. Thus the number of players upon which the battle fund will be divided is also decreasing.
