The P-51. This thing was a marvel of American engineering. It was fast, agile, and could take one heck of beating. It could give even the Me-262 jet fighter a run for it`s money.

Not necessarily. Many Russian planes are very good. The IL-2 Sturmovik, Yak-3, Su-37 Terminator, and the MIG-29 are just a few of them.

 

Both the USA and Russia have/had good planes and bad planes.

They are basing it`s position on it`s impact on technology. Being the first operational jet fighter, it would obviously be considered important from a historical point of view. But they say that it was: difficult to build, vulnerable on take-off, and again, only a few were built.

 

Of course, this is all opinion-based.

It doesn't all matter on speed and power! It depends on the Fear factor, production rating, kill ratio, service length, and innovation
