Status of players leaving battles

Recommended Posts

Can the notification text for when a player leaves a battle also include information about them being online/offline?

Something like this-

1. Player x left, is online.
OR
2. Player y left, is offline.

So in case #2, player y's team can expect to be shorthanded for a while due to that slot being retained by the system.

Later, when player y logs back in, they get a message like -

"Unexpected battle termination. If your exit was intentional, we request that you use the close button for the in-game battle window instead of your browser next time."

The user would then have to click the "Ok" button to be re-instated into the battle. Aim is to spread awareness about responsibly exiting a battle. If required a check box saying "Don't show me this again." can be added too.

At first I was like yay, a good idea! Then I seen the structure and I was like MORE ANNOYING DIAGLOGS.

I am TIRED of having to push so many darn buttons just to stay in a battle at the end anyways. Used to if you wanted to leave you hit the exit button, you wanna stay you sit back relax go get a drink.

This would just make it worse  - Especially when I refresh? I would have to hit a button. nope. this is horrible too much. just one button right? Yea, but with battles only being 15 min, every second is precious.

Like some parts the rest, with dialogs popping up ugh no.

You have a point. Does it help if we introduce a check box saying "Don't show me this again?"

lol, idk, the idea is reasonable, but so is the argument against it

Can you check above?

So basically, this whole idea is about letting the rest of the players know that they will be outnumbered for a while? That seems rather useless. Would be much better if instead of this the forces would automatically get balanced, e.g. the last player(s) on the other team getting force-paused until the numbers are even again.

No. It serves THREE purposes -

1. Let people know that it's NOT okay to simply exit the browser without exiting the game.

2. Let people who play with those who do the above NOT lose out for it - unknowingly.

3. Let people know Tanki retains slots and provide a passive workaround for the scenario - I've had friends invite me to a battle when someone leaves but I can't join it just because a) my friend can't see the slot in his game is blocked. B) the slot in his game is blocked ._.

Moreover this should gel seamlessly with any other ambitious idea to actively tackle the "slot" issue like the one you just suggested. Except I think it's unfair to punish/otherwise restrict a few select players when it's not their fault. What if a Gold drops or one of those who were force-paused had the flag? Either way, that's a separate idea. Something like a mutual temporary standstill (suggested by Vikingsrallendo) would work much better imho. I don't see how this idea would clash with something like that.

EDIT: If this topic gets merged with another ideas topic, and I am unaware of the transition, all of what I've said above stands nullified in relation to the content merged.
