Friendly Fire: Colored damage indicators if you hit your teammate

Recommended Posts

If players join a battle they often miss to realise that friendly fire is on.

Especially if your teammates don't speak English, it is hard to find out why they complain all the time :P

If the damage indicators above your teammembers would be yellow, then they would realise that faster, that they do harm.

edit:

I was told, that yellow is already in use for Smoky's critical shot.

Purple or orange look alterting too, maybe those are better choices

+ 1 Good idea, because many times when people join FF battles, at first they don't know that FF is turned on. I would use another color than yellow tho, because it is already in use for the damage counter of Smoky's critical shots. The other colors that are in use are white, green (healing) and red.

Guess there's no harm in different colour damage indicators, would also make it easier to differentiate between a normal kill and a friendly-fire kill when shooting long range.

Should the damage counter always be in purple / orange or should it be also separate if someone dies from the shot, like it is in the normal battles, with non-lethal shot = white and lethal shot = red?

the minimum requirement is the other way around: if you kill a teammate, the damage counter may not be red.

but it could have the same color as for a normal damage to a teammate.

For teammates it's not so critical to know if you delivered the killing blow; it is more about to know that you hit the wrong person.

Maybe too many colors make it difficult for smoky users: they have white, yellow and red; and I think one more is enough already.

Tani_S made a thread about penalty meassures for the ones that kill their teammate.

You can propose there, that the penalty for killing a flagrunner should be as high as for the complete cap of a flag (take + go whole way + delivery); I think it fits there pretty well.

The different color is mainly for those who join a friendly fire battle and do not notice that they do harm. Then they at least get aware of it by those different colors, fast.

Well you could always change smoky's critical to red, since you can't be using isi and smoky at the same time thats covered, and then use the yellow for FF

edit: that way all the damage indicators regardles of weapon are red.

I saw this already, and well, if they read this idea already, I'm sure there was not much considering. It can't harm the game... Purple isn't very noticeable and suitable, but I agree that orange would do it well.
