Need a Surrender Option for CTF!

Recommended Posts

How is it "fun" when it costs more to play then you win?

Spending 300 on supplies per flag cap makes no sense when the payout is about 500 overall.

By not fighting back it deprives the jerks of income since battle fund won't go up if nobody fights.

In essence, by everyone pausing, the morons spend their drugs and get nothing in return.

Why do we go to amusement parks, when we can go to the local playground...

Why do we go to the cinema, when we can watch TV...

Why do we pay extra to eat in a restaurant, when we can have the same meal at home for a fraction of the costs...

Right, it's not the same experience!

Dude, you're on the end-side of Tanki, creeperskelly and the majority of us have still way to go... That means that for you the only point in battles is fun and of course you're willing to pay for this - it's ok - but most of us apart from fun we have parallel reasons, such as gathering crystals for upgrading out tanks. In that perspective it makes no sense to spend 500 crystals in order to earn 300 (I 'm sure you agree with that). Dispite the fun*.

So you can see it's not really a difference in opinions as a difference in position / perspective.

* (edit) which fun, to be honest, isn't what it used to be before the latest updates.... smart cooldowns and canceling crystal drops have made playing less fun and more homework, if you know what I mean...

That's really my point - when you reach the top and there's no point to playing or saving for upgrades then the only thing left is spend the winnings on drugs.

It makes no economic sense to spend winnings on drugs now when I need the funds for upgrades - especially since there are no more crystal drops and the battle fund split is lower.

Nice.

So I guess that also helps with the "planned" take-overs by insane druggers then possibly?

I mean, end the battle BEFORE they find it.

By the way Hazel-Rah, how do we access an "IN DEVELOPMENT" page? Forgot where it was. An updated one?

I am in way too many lopsided games and it ruins the experience.  Sometimes teams form that are unbalanced for any number of reasons ranging from the selection of tank types to player experience and one side absolutely dominates the other.  I've been on both sides and neither is particularly fun.

Once a team gets down by 10 flags or so it's pretty much over.  There may be teams that come back from that, but it's sufficiently rare as to not be worth taking into consideration.

The opposite team quickly loses players and it becomes a turkey shoot, with opposing tanks taking hits from the moment they spawn and if they manage to survive, they face impossible odds of 1-3 or more.

I've been on the winning side where we waited unopposed for 10 minutes for the game to end in order to collect our points.  How stupid is that?

Or if players are willing to hang around they get beat by 33-0 or some ridiculous number.  But more often than not, they just leave.  There is so little to be gained by staying in, or joining a lopsided game on the wrong side that this is a good strategy.  You never live for more than a few seconds and get very few crystals for the time expended.

There are ways to deal with this.

Automatically end games with a goal differential of 10 flags.

or

Create a surrender option.  Players on the losing side can surrender as a group with a simple majority.  The game ends, they collect their points and start a new game.

The former is probably easier to implement, but the latter gives players more control.  It needs to be done.

999 flag battles??? The 10 flag rule wont work then

Other than that its an awesome idea

Seems like proposed system is not that good, lets think of something else.

I suggest to monitor players score. If Team A overall score incresing much faster then Team B overall then we might concider this as imbalance. We do not consider time left or flags or whatever. If Team B no longer gain points as they used to, they might already surrendered or there is not enough players in the team.

One can imagine the tug of war with players score.

From this point we track this situation as imbalanced and if it persist we will initiate Domination victory. Means, give losing team certain time to recover or battle will be ended.

Does it looks better?

Yea

In development

Glad to hear that.

Will the condition(s) be a difference in score only or in flags as well?

And is there any chance to promote losing team - from the moment domination timer starts - with extra armor after respawn?

Well, you might be right. There is indeed a difference in position / perspective. Drugs are part of the game, everyone should deal with that. Different perspectives mean different opinions. Non-druggers complain about druggers and vice versa. Whose aruments are valid? I guess both are...

I guess the silly thing about drugging is that if everyone is doing it then what is the point of drugging?

At lower levels it makes more sense to spend the winnings on physical upgrades - I suppose once I am maxed out on my hull(s) and turret(s) then there is nothing left to spend it on but supplies.

There is skill in drugging alright, it takes gameplay to a whole other level. However, most have to participate to become clearly visable...

It requires a majority and this is easily solved by not having the surrender option pop up unless you are losing by 10 or more flags.

How?

Not a good idea. In long team matches that take HOURS, 10 flags is a small amount, also, the surrender option has to have all members agree, otherwise it would be abused as @$@. I just don't think all the members would click surrender.

I disagree because people on a badly losing team most peple stay for crystals and if your losing badly then people will want to either leave or start a new game.
