Rail XT and Hornet XT

Today (Dec 28), after the server update, Rail XT and Hornet XT were released, for the extreme price of 150k and 100k respectively. THe upgrades on each are 50k, which makes no sense. Why are they so expensive and why are the upgrades less? That really doesn't make sense because we lose it on January 15. So why is it worth it? Same with Frost? What makes those three items worth it?
