A better way of reporting

Recommended Posts

This is a great idea, It can save time of players and also moderators. Each time we report, mod have to take a look at that and say there is no reason for a ban or mod will ban him. So with this idea mod do not want to go to forum to take  a look at the violations. And about the reward, it will be also good. But there should be a negative reward those who report for false info. Just sharing thoughts.

I also think the reporting players should get a reward. For instance, if they report, say 10 offenders in 1 week, then they get 100 crystals. Just a thought......maybe the reward and time could be balanced by the Devs, but this would encourage more players to report in-game offenders. :)

Are you sure? I'll earn a million cystals in a month, and of course, Ostrica will kill me.

Present system :

Player 1 : Hey you *CENSORED* !!!!

Player 2: Now you will get banned ;)

Then player 2 needs to take a full pic , upload it , make a new topic and wait for the mod's decision

According to my system :

Player 1 : Hey you *CENSORED*

Then player 2 left clicks on the message and there will be a separate option called " Report this message" , he clicks on that and the report is sent to a mod automatically and  then the mod takes a look if the player 1 should be banned or not and takes his decision . DONE!

And to avoid spam , It should be made like so If someone reports [A number chosen by devs] times in a day and those messages do not violate the chat rules then the player won't be able to report for a [hour/day/week/month] .

I think this system will make the chats cleaner as the present system requires some effort and people don't really like to waste their time on this . With my system , reporting will be much easier and faster

We suggested this kind of system to developers awhile ago, but such a system asks for their time and effort, and both are occupied by the development of Unity version of the game. So nothing can be done for now...

I disagree. Players mostly use reporting system to get back to those they dislike or want banned for this or that reason. I find it a petty way of resolving problems, the one that elevates negative atmosphere in the game and raise animosity between players. So no, no one should be rewarded for backstabbing and generally acting mean, even if someone else started. I'm always suggesting players to simply block (put on Ignore list) those they find disturbing or offending. It's more mature and overall better solution which is already implemented in the game.

It's only if your report is valid, and if there is a Moderator on chat to respond. ;)

Why blocking the violator? You must report the violator and he will receive his punishment.

No one "must" do anything - people are here to play and enjoy the game, interact with each others and rank, not to sit on the chat and do moderator's work. Also, moderators are not here to go through pages and pages of reports on the forum, but to be on the chat in real time, helping players and educating them about the rules. Everything is about prevention, not dealing with consequences.

I understand what you're talking about, with prevention being the best cure. However, if venturing down this avenue is our best option, the question remains: how? Another item to focus on with the upcoming Unity version.

I support this. That funcion should be added to Chat list (Ignore, Write in chat, Add to friends)

If this function be implenented in Chat, i also think that reporting without any reason (for fun) should also take same punishment.

1st.  If will be about 60-70k players online and almost 20k will report other 30k (let's say the others are inoccent) will be A LOT OF SPAM, even if they report just once.

2nd.  More then this... players always say "noob" that can mean newbie or something else... and a lot of people will report.

3rd.  Some players can say something in they're language that means insults in english (that happens to my language) but in real are just normal words.

4th.  I really think it's a bad idea cause all moderators will have A LOT OF WORK. Even with forum 'system' they have to work.

It would, but then people would try set others up or falsely accuse for a free X amount of crystals

Only if reports turn out to be valid, though....sorry for not making that clear. ;)

Ok, I don't wanna offend you but what if I report my alts and gain crystals? I don't think so we should get prizes :)

Instead some pat in our backs and a sip of coffee would be just fffiiinnnneeee!

No disrespect to you, but your attempts at prevention are not very effective. Fear of punishment, knowing they will pay for what they do is a much bigger deterrent. Tanki is far to soft on repeat offenders. Offenders know nothing bad will happen so they continue. Bans do not work, banned players just play another account while the other is banned. Start fining players or removing equipment.

i voted up, but i think mods wil have so much repports tanki need have +100 mods

Maybe not 100 but certainly more then they have. Problem is Tanki HQ expects too much of the mods for what they offer as payment.

Suggested and denied a long time ago. Tanki is afraid players will turn into vigilantes and loose focus on the game.  (This is the second time today I had to write that)

I understand your point of view, but this is still just a game - it shouldn't be turned into some kind of correctional facility, nor the focus should be on the offenders. We are also not here to act like punishers. There are several ways to deal with offenders, and even though they might not be as effective according to you, we still shouldn't lose the site of the fact that we're here for the simple joy of playing.

Then let's not give anyone a reason to lose the focus on the game :) Play on! :)

As I stated before, I'm not trying to disrespect any mods or their admins but in my opinion there are still far too many repeat offenders in this game and it is really taking the fun out of it.  You are well aware that I do indeed respect many of the mods and are friends with some of them.

"correctional facility"  is not at all what I said or implied.

As you mention, this is just a game, however it is real hard to have fun when the same players keep ruining the game. I still maintain that many of these people continue to cause trouble because there is no real punishment for breaking rules. Just to be clear I'm referring to REPEAT offenders. I agree with you that some players deserve a warning and actually learn from it but repeat offenders clearly deserve a different approach.

"Educating players" can only go so far after that rules need to be enforced and punishments dealt out.

As always, the opinion of players is important to us. We're working hard to maintain the balance on the chat, which will provide players with the good atmosphere and keep violators at bay. I'm assuring you that we're already harsher on repeat offenders but any radical changes to our system of chat bans is not planned for now. However, we can and we do tweak them from time to time, if there's need. As for players, I already stressed that they have several options to protect themselves from offenders, and we sincerely hope they are using them to their potential.

Bof... An offender is just an offender I think he doesn't ruin so much the game. U can just ignore him like a drunked guy in a pub. The guys that ruins those games are mults and people that love to practice sabotage during battles. Those guys ruins the game.

And report them is quite hard, cause u have to do a video (5+ minutes), then you have to convert it in a small format (because it need to be an hd, so you need a program like fraps or others), then you need to post it on youtube, then then then!! -.- long story
