Soooo... My very first guide. Okay guys I'll try and make it intresting by writing about my favorite thing... Gold Hunting!!! Please note that this is NOT for complete beginners who don't know what a Gold Box is or who haven't even seen a Gold Box before. So with out futher ado... let's begin!

Let's say you hop onto a map and your playing as usual and bam! "Goldbox will be dropped soon" pops up in your face. Oh those wonderful orange letters make the hearts of many tankers beat at twice their normal speed. But after reading my guide you won't be dreaming of catching a gold. You will catch a gold!

Recommend Maps for Gold Hunting:

Personally I think the best map for golds is Polygon. But this not for everyone. When looking for a good map always consider these tips.

1. Do I know all the drop zones (this is essential, if you don't know them find out here http://en.tankiforum.com/index.php?showtopic=234421&view=&hl=&fromsearch=1

2. Does it have a good battle fund

3. Am I on the winning team

4. Does it suit my play stlye and combination

Obviously some Maps are great for golds and others are not. Maps with bigger funds drop more golds. The Gold works like this, every time 1 crystal is added to the battle fund there is wheel, like in wheel of fortune, which spins. There is a 1 in 10,000 chance of it landing on the gold tile. If it does land there a Gold Box falls. This is why high battle funds are key to catching golds. Another thing to note is that your combination is good for the map. You can't expect a gold on Servuhov when you're a Shaft + Mammoth. Small Maps for heavy hulls with short range turrets(Island,Arena,Ping Pong), Medium Maps for meduim hulls with mid-long range turrets(Polygon,Rio,Noise) and large Maps for small hull with mid-long range turrets(Servuhov,Silence,Madness). Though generally your best bet for getting a Gold is a: fimilar map, that's about 30 minutes for a good battle fund, meduim size map and being on the winning team (if there are teams).

If you want my opinion on the best maps here it is.

1. Polygon

2. Servuhov/Arena

3. Island

You should know that there is a diamond on the ground where the gold box is going to drop look for this.

Finding the right combo for Gold Hunting:

Note that some items are better than others for Gold Hunting.

Here are the top 3 hulls in my opinion 1 being the highest.

1. Dictator

What did you expect? Viking? :) Dictator rules golds in TO. It is the highest hull allowing you to snag that amazing box out of the sky, it has a bulky build so other tanks can barely climb it and it takes up more space and it is your best bet for golds on medium to small maps... the reasons are endless why use dictator. Ohh boy I love this thing. Enough health to make it out alive and catch the gold and enough speed actually find it. Dictator proves itself worthy of the number one spot. And for many other great reasons, I think you should agree. Recommend turret: Hammer

2. Wasp

This little fella sure packs a punch! :D Wasp is excellent for gold hunting! It can use the heavy recoil of guns like thunder, railgun and hammer to climb onto other tanks and take the gold in mid air. All you have to do is: drive back a bit then suddenly stop the front of your tank will rise a little. Then fire your turret when this happens it will go high enough to get on other tanks and take the gold. Wasp has major down sides: it can't take much damage and it is easy to shove out of the way. Non the less it is still a great option in large Maps being a light Recommend turret: Railgun

3. Titan

This great underrated heavy hull is best for small Maps though it can work in some meduim Maps. It is wide and tall to catch the gold and is very hard to kill, add a DA and a health kit and your unstoppable! You can also push every other hull in the game... even the Mammoth. It's down sides consists of slow speed. Recommend turret: Twins

Honorable Mentions: Hunter (Ricochet is Recommended for Hunter and in my opinion I prefer Gold Hunting with Hunter than Dictator. But it is only the forth best hull for Gold Hunting so it didn't make the Top 3)

Top 3 turrets:

1. Hammer

It... Is... AMAZING!!! This turret can use it's impact force to push tanks off the gold, flip other tankers and allow you to climb on to them. It boasts 3 terrifying high damage shoots that destroy your enemy! Use them wisely.

2. Twins

Errr... MOM! An annoying Twins pushed me off the gold zone again! This turret can practiclly fire forever. This is very annoying for your enemys and team. When paired with Titan it becomes the ultimate pushing machine. Some losers on the gold, oh no problem I'll just push them off. It's that easy!

3. Firebird

Ahhhh Yesss! Are you a pyro who loves roasting people alive? While this turret is for you! Best when used in small DM maps where its range barely matters. And you can kill everyone. Literally with DD there is no mercy or chance of living. You can fire through opponents to kill many at the same time and take the gold before I can say 'Jack Robbinson'!

Honorable Mentions: Ricochet

The Plan:

When you here the siren or you see the warning you should know what to do here are tips to help so you won't be crying when you end up not being able to even see the gold.

1. Don't bug other Tankers

When you start randomly shooting at the enemy team you will grab their attention. You don't want this. It will likely end up with you either dead or on low HP. You can fire if its like 3 Mammoths v.s. a Wasp but if other wise... Fire when nessesary.

2. Don't do stunts and crazy unfimalir things

You will probably flip and have a low chance in touching the gold box.

3. Search in the regular spots for golds

When you go to the corner of the map to find it you will likely be far away from it. Try to look in the middle or where other tankers are crowding.

4. Calm Down!

Don't get too excited and end up doing something stupid instead act cool and don't worry too much. Worrying leads to silly mistakes.

5. Try other camera angles

These can help alot putting your camera angle on birds eye view will help you see things around you and above you which can help for seeing the gold first up close. But sniper view can help with seeing clusters of tanks from far. And watching the gold drop from far

When you find the Drop Zone:

When you find it, position yourself in a good hidden spot. A great tactic is to jump from a ledge and caught it in mid air. You can also use ramps to get onto other tankers, this is good but not as effective as jumping. If there is a ceiling of any sort over the gold get on top of it and don't let anyone push you off. Most people don't know this but even if the gold has a ceiling getting on top of tanks will let you get it first! You also have to remember to CALM DOWN! Don't let any tank rush you into jumping too early or push you round even when your on low health use a HEALTH KIT! Ever heard of it? :P This is a mistake I make WAY too often.

Using Supplies:

The guide is almost over tankers don't leave yet! You need to know how to use your supplies wisely. When the siren goes off activate Nitro to find the Drop Zone. This is very handy on large maps. When being shot at use DA to survive. Finally when the Drop Zone is crowded use DD to clear it up! :) But if you are using a heavy hull in a medium or large map you should use Nitro first. As for light hulls use DA first to help with the low health problem.

Timing:

Remember timing is key. A little trick I like to use is when the alarm goes off you have 30 seconds to find the Gold Box. I use the battle timer to time these 30 seconds so I know when the Gold Box will fall. Another thing, it's very important that you time your jumps well carefully. If you miss these swift movements for the Gold. You will likely not have another chance so be careful!

Well that's my guide ladies and gentletankers. I will be updating it when ever there is a change in Gold Hunting. Please leave feedback: was there a mistake, something I missed, good or bad and so on.

Hope you enjoyed and see you on the battle field!

That's All Folks!!! :D

Athours Note: I remember my very first Gold Box, I was a Sergeant-Major on my first account. It was on Rio I currently had Thunder-Hornet and was playing normally then, I heard a siren go off and the orange words "Gold Box will be dropped soon" appeared in the sky. Now don't worry, I knew what a Gold Box was back then! So I took action, I equipped my Nitro and zomed around the map looking for my prize. Then I saw it!!! The beautiful box, floating to the ground on the beach. Two Firebirds were fight for it. I hit the gas and raced in that direction at full speed! And ya know what?...I caught it! I died very quickly after catching it, but I caught it. This made me very happy for the whole day.

Tankers, if you want to help the guide you can do this: Like it, Do the polls, recommend it for others, and most importantly... Leave comments down below. By doing this often the guide stay on the front page and is more accessible, meaning I end up helping more people. This would make me very happy and shows me that you care.

Happy Gold Hunting!!!!

Last Note:

Okay everyone, the time has come b). I'm am going to make a new guide. Yes a second guide to the serie., I got a nice amount of likes, views, votes and comments. But the most wanted guide was... Earning and Saving up crystals in TO! :D Which is ,lucky, something I'm fimilar with. (Unlike being a good teammate ) I'll still leave the poll up, but it's really pointless to vote . I'm going to start working on it so stay alert tankers! ;)

Hmm, very nice.

Just one tip, depending on the tank your using and the map will depend on the supply used. In a Kungur CTF with Wasp? Use DA than Nitro. If your in the same battle but with Titan? Use Nitro than DA.

A good guide, well written, but in my humble opinion you have forgotten (left out?) one important thing, maybe even the most important thing. At least for very crowded maps like Polygon, for example. For me (Titan hull) the hardest part is finding the drop zone. When I do manage to find it in time, my odds of getting a gold box increase a lot. In a crowded small map like Polygon, this is usually not a problem. Then a total different thing comes into mind - positioning. Positioning is key to get the gold box. It usually gets very tight, very crowded. Where do one go, in order to end up on the square of the gold box? That's the big key, imho.

Someone with a light hull that often ends up on top of another tank, probably have some other thoughts about what is essential in order to get the gold box... :)

Credit where credit is due, this isn't bad for your first thing. Nice work, looking forward to seeing you improving as you write more.

What do you mean by Credit?

Great article!

However, 1/7000 chance of a gold box dropping is not correct anymore. After they removed crystal boxes, the chance of a gold box dropping changed to 1/10000.

Thanks! I fixed it! :P

Citing sources you got info from. We arent too bent up about being crazy official or anything, but say you got some info from another guide, put where you got it from in parentheses next to the info.
