Introduction:

The English forums are a great place to kick back and relax after a long day in the battle. It’s full of games, news and discussions all made by the English community.
There are four sections in all, with eleven subsections. Currently there are 16,759 users on the forums, a very high amount of them are inactive, but there are also quite a few active members as well.
Selena12121 interviewed a few of them
here, about their lives outside of tanki.

This article includes a short description of all eleven subsections in the forums.

Sections:

Developers News is strictly for news and updates only. Discussion topics for recent updates are all posted here.
Although only administrators are allowed to create topics in this section, any users are free to post there.

Contests is the next section. Once again, although only certain staff members can create topics here, you are still allowed to post in this section.
Just make sure that you follow the rules of the certain topic you are posting in. Most topics in this section only allow posts which are entries to a contest.

Rules comes next, this is a very important section. Any activity in this section is restricted to only certain staff members but normal members and guests are free to view it as they please.
There are currently three topics in this section. The first one, named Staff, is a simple list of all of the English Community Staff members including administrators, moderators, consultants and reporters.
(If you are interested in joining the staff, read this FAQ topic.) The second topic in the Rules section is the EULA (End User License Agreement).
It consists of the Terms and Agreements you must obey while in game and on the forums.
The third and final topic is the Official Game Rules, all users must
obey the rules stated or may face a ban. If you are new to the game, reading this topic is suggested.

General is one of the most common sections, with the most topics. It is mainly for reporting bugs, suggesting ideas and some discussion.
All types of users are allowed to create topics and reply to other topics in this section, which makes it more popular than some others.
Although you are free to suggest your ideas here, it is suggested that you input your ideas at feedback.tankionline.com. This will decrease the number of topics.

Just make sure your discussions don’t go too off-topic.

FAQ is the next section. FAQ, which stands for Frequently Asked Questions, is a section full of topics made by staff members giving tutorials on various elements of the game.
Although normal members aren’t allowed to post here, you are still free to view all of the topics.
When you have a question, make sure to check the FAQ section before asking, since your question may have already been answered in an FAQ topic.

Complaints section is next, this section is strictly for Complaints only, no discussion will be tolerated.
If you are experiencing any problems, glitches or want to report someone, this is the section to do it in. There is one very important additional rule which applies to this section.
Make sure you read the conditions and rules of this section, not following them will result in a one week ban from the chat and forums.

The Off-Topic Discussion section seems to be the most popular section at the moment.
In this section you can discuss interesting topics, participate in forum games and get to know the community better.
Make sure you don’t go too off-topic, this could be considered trolling and may result in a ban.

Next are the Newspaper Archive and Press sections which you are currently viewing. Creating topics in these sections is exclusively for reporters.
Once every month, the reporter team releases a new issue. Each issue usually consists of about twenty articles including tutorials, contests, stories and many more.

Recently Selena12121, GoldRock, jokjinari, Valletta, and I were added to the team of Reporters. You can read some interviews with all of us here.
The reporting team has recently started including some articles written in foreign languages by our two foreign correspondents.
In the Press section you will find all the articles from the latest issue. Once a new issue is released, all the old articles will be moved from the Press section to the Newspaper Archive section.

Now we have the Clans section. This section is strictly for clan topics only, no discussion topics are tolerated. To create a clan you must be a
sm_18.pngFirst Lieutenant or above.
On the other hand, to join a clan a rank of anything above sm_12.pngWarrant Officer 2 is needed, but be aware that some clans may set their own recruiting standards.
Clans can participate in Clan wars against other clans and participate in the Clan Championships. There are many other requirements to start a clan, all rules can be read here.

The last section is the Teams section. This section is very similar to the Clans section in a few ways, but has some different standards.
For creating a team, the requirements are slightly lower, only being
sm_16.pngThird Lieutenant and above. To join a team, the requirements sit at only sm_9.pngFirst Sergeant.
Once again, certain teams may set their own standards for recruiting. The complete list of team rules can be found here.

Note: This guide is now slightly outdated. A few new sections and sub-sections were added recently. Also, some of the names of sections were changed.
