Game performance - Basic information and guide to asking a question

Recommended Posts

In order for someone to help you with your performance issue we need as much information about the issue you are facing as well as some information about the computer that you are using to play this game

Information to give when making a new thread

Not compulsory but giving as much information as you can may increase your chances of getting an answer faster

  • Describe the problem you are facing in a couple of lines
  • Give a little information about your computer if you can, like processor model and amount of RAM.
  • What browser are you using? (Chrome, Firefox, I.E, etc)
  • What operating system are you using? (Windows XP, 7, 8, Mac OS? etc)
  • Have you tried decreasing the graphic settings in-game to their lowest values? (Check below for images)
  • Have you tried enabling or disabling Hardware Acceleration if you have the option to? (Check below for images)
  • Have you tried using the Standalone flash player? Does it increase your performance?  (Check below for link)

After setting your graphics at the lowest possible, check your FPS. Then start turning on the options one-by-one in the following order until you are satisfied with the balance between the performance and the visual quality of the game. You can't have both if your computer is old!

  • Mip-mapping
  • Soft particles
  • Fog
  • Skybox
  • Shadow under tank
  • Dynamic shadows
  • Deep shadows
  • Dust

Adaptive FPS should not be enabled at all unless doing so increases your FPS, where as on most computers it decreases FPS.

How to enable/disable Hardware Acceleration?

If your computer supports Hardware Acceleration but it is disabled you can enable it by following these steps (not all computers support Hardware Accelration so the option might not be available for some people)

  • Right click anywhere in Tanki

  • Click on settings

  • Check or uncheck the box according to your preference

Instructions on using the standalone flash player can be found here (server links may be outdated), the Windows gadget for running TankiOnline via standalone flash can be found here (again, server links might get outdated, TankiOnline is not affiliated in any way with this software)

Questions on game performance will not be entertained in this thread.
