Oh, snap, you’ve done it again. You decided to spend close to all your crystals on an upgrade seconds before watching the Tanki Online V-Log that announced a very nice discount the very next week. And there you are, sitting dumbfounded looking at a garage with a stockpile of crystals you’d rather not mention but you still need to get something good from the discount that’s coming around the corner. What do you do? Surprisingly, there are plenty of cheap, but efficient ways to get back on top of the crystals situation.

But oh wait! You also happen to be too lazy to play seriously or you’re overwhelmed by tasks and chores from your life and therefore don’t feel like spending hours upon hours of “grinding” through funds and hunting gold boxes for your oh-so-desired equipment. Well, then you are left with two very basic, but important strategies: Regularity and efficiency. Now, these two principles are not strictly limited to playing regularly and being an “efficient” player. The way you will get your crystals before the discount depends on the type of player you are for the grind to be both enjoyable and efficient. There are several different ways your career as a player can develop depending on your preferences. Are you a drugger? Do you enjoy PRO battles? Or maybe XP? Do you like to have a constant supply of small sums of crystals in your garage or would you rather spend nothing until you get a grand sum for some expensive purchase? Below are strategies I have found out to work for myself and my play style, but can also be used by other types of players.

 

To make whatever methods we will discuss a bit easier to comprehend, all of the strategies will be based on a hypothetical situation in which you have a period of one week, starting Monday, to get as much crystals as possible for the discount announced for the following Monday. Your savings are zero and you must try to get the highest possible sum for this week long period. Note that you can multiply or divide this period of time and the amount of preparation required proportionally, so you can be ready if the hypothetical discount is 3 days away or 1 month away.

• Limit your expenses

Simple, huh? One of the most logical and straightforward ways to stockpile crystals is simply by not spending any. It is often referred to as a “no brainer” as there is not much to it other than simple, tedious crystal-fasting to it. If this floats your boat and you feel like this strategy is the only feasible way of gaining the required crystals, then here are a few factors, which should make the grind less painful.

• Rely on daily bonus supplies

Do not, under any circumstances, buy drugs or battle passes as they are only efficient in battles with massive funds and high ranks. If you do… I can't say I know why you’re reading this article. By all means, supplies received with daily bonuses can be used nicely in your aid whenever you need a boost for a situation that could assure you a bigger reward. And again, anything other than daily bonuses is absolutely not worth the purchase.

• Call friends

If you have someone to play Tanki with, it is never a bad idea to resort to him or her, regardless of whether it is for help in a tricky situation, or just for a mutual battle fund grinding session. If in-game friends are scarce for the time being, Servers 1 and 2 are always a place full of willing players of all ranks from the EN community. The forum is a nice place to arrange meetings as well. Having gathered a company, you can farm funds together or even raid already created battles. But just remember, no multing ;)

• Weekly contests

If you want to get an advantage over the others, you can look into the regular contests announced with every V-log, with every issue of the newspaper, or on the official Tanki Facebook and Twitter pages. Each gives you a good 20k if answered correctly or on time, so make sure to get in line for that too. Moreover, if you have some of the above mentioned willing friends to help out your otherwise smart head, you will have a great shot at getting at least one of the weekly prizes

• Utilize whatever you can from your garage

If you don’t have crystals in your garage then don’t worry, you’re not broke. All the items in your garage cost crystals, and although they sadly cannot be sold, they can be used to re-earn their value. Make use of any PRO battle passes or Score multiplier passes you may have, be it for a day or for a week. Don’t waste your drugs, but use them whenever you are in a situation that can definitely be fixed if you used some supplies; so don’t miss flag captures or gold boxes with the thought that you should conserve your drugs. PRO battle passes are especially valuable because using one you can get into rather lucrative battles and may earn you as much as 10k crystals for a day.

• Log in and play every day

Every. Single. Day. You can’t expect results without perseverance, since after all you are the one who is opting for sacrificing an extra bit of free time for that shiny piece of equipment you want from the discount. By logging in every day you’re not only refreshing your supply of drugs, but you have a bigger chance of getting a valuable PRO battle pass or even better, a chunk the desired crystals. That, along with a healthy 2 or 3 hours of playing every day, can get you anywhere from 10k to 70k for that week of “fasting and grinding”

And there you go, you don’t need much more than some perseverance to get your savings back to top notch in time for the expected discount. If done with enough spirit and no slacking around, you’re sure to have both your desired piece of equipment and that sweet feeling you get when yielding the results of a good day’s work, or a good week’s crystal grind.
